House Alarms

    Anyone know what the story is with a house alarm that's constantly sounding. There's one somewhere around me here that's been running since last night, and it's still going now. Can the Gardai do anything? It kept me up last night until I could find a set of ear plugs, but they fall out and the alarm wakes me up again. Really don't want to go through this again tonight.

    Surely it's illegal for an alarm to ring for 24 hours straight!

    The only thing stopping me from getting a ladder and bashing the sh*te out of the box with a big bat is the fact that I don't have a ladder. I also like the idea of a shotgun, but again lack of shotgun holding me back.

    Don't bash it. You could just open it and cut the sounder.

    At least report it to the Garda.

    Just had a wander around to find out where the alarm is, and it's the inside alarm that's sounding, not outside. It's a couple of houses away and I can still hear it. It must be damn loud to the houses next to it.

    So nothing can be done from the outside anyway.

    Sounds like lorindol OD'd on the heroin judging by that post.

    Cut off his mains and wait for the battery backup to die.

    @lorindol
    Eh, what? There's not usually an 'off' switch on an alarm you know, at least not on a good one anyway.

    I'm sure they gave keys to the neighbours, maybe pester them to go inside and turn it off?

    AFAIK it's illegal for an alarm to sound for more than 20 minutes.

    Yeah but like a lot of illegal things like this no one is going to care. I'd imagine if the neighbours had keys they would have turned it off already.

    But unfortunatly it's also illegal to pull the thing off the wall
