    am i hallucinating of something

ryanair have supposedly a special at the moment

    http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/fares.php?dest=HHN&base=KIR

but hey - when i go to book one for the dates times specified as part of the special i get 24 euro instead of .03 euro

or maybe its the 'Subject to Availability' that is the killer

they advertise these deals everywhere but they only make one seat available for this deal :) chancers!

Fares are exclusive of taxes fees & charges which do not exceed €13.00

That's it all over  you'll rarely ever get cheap flights the weekend always during the week

have you flown with ryanair before? they're just implementing a basic marketing technique - i assume that a high percentage of these free / 3c tickets will be on routes that aren't performing well or new routes to increase passenger numbers & their load factor... if you want really the free seats on a popular route, essentially you have to be prepared to "suffer", be it spending a night in stansted or arriving in some regional airport at 11pm...

they have 3 million seats for sale - they could have 150 free seats on one plane and 10 on another, with ryanair its all about luck imo but at the same time I've used them almost 100 times and I've saved thousands compared to what i would have spent using another airline...

FFS, stop whinging, if it wasn't for Ryanair you'd still be paying well over €200 for those flights. Want something to complain about? If you were from Cork CIE would charge you €55 to get the train to Dublin to take those €24 flights. And that's a company run on your taxes.

If you don't like Ryanair, don't use them, go pay through the nose and use Aer Lingus instead.

What you are forgetting is that Ryan air will also happily charge you 200 odd for the same flight if you try to book at the last minute - which makes your comparison with CIE rather trite and pointless tbh.

I hate people moaning about ryanair. GO FLY WITH BA or AERLINGUS FIRST CLASS AND YOU'LL GET THE BEST SERVICE EVER.

Actually any time I fly with Aerlingus they're delayed. Never been late with ryanair. People say ryanair say it's longer to get to destinations. Wrong, Dublin to London with Ryanair = 1Hr 15 Minutes. Aerlingus = 1Hr 15 Minutes

chalk it down. CIE are taking the piss and have done so for quite some time.

I sometimes can't believe either the expectations or the assumptions of some people.

It's simply a marketing ploy to advertise flights FROM one cent or whatever. Why do people have such difficulty copping on to this?

You can still get teriffic value if you're flexible. If Ryanair or any airline sold seats for 1c at busy times they'd go out of business in days.

Assuming Ryanair is always cheaper than Aer Lingus or BMI is also foolish. I probably fly a lot more than most people and regularly get better deals from Aer Lingus and BMI.

Slagging CIE is just something people do (sometimes with good reasons, but often just because it's the done thing), but I've learned to deal with that :)

Nope, Ryanair are usually quite honest when it comes to their 1c or 3c deals.

Basically, if you book in for a Tue, Wed or Thursday you will get it for the price advertised. If not then it's usually about a E9 for an early morning flight on the Monday or Friday.

I booked three! 3c flights yesterday. I had to be flexible with dates and times but it is more than possible to get the price advertised.

I have not really had good experiences with these people. My parents had a horid time a few weeks ago. They where flying from stansted to newquay in bristol. On arrival in newquay they found that heavy mist was going to mean they could not land there, so they flew to a small airport in bristol and landed there. The airport was basically deserted at 11 at nite. They where 3 hours drive from newquay and ryanair told them they would be getting buses. About 15minutes later the ryanair crew got on the plane and flew back to london  . The bus never came  , and they had to pay 150 pounds to rent a car :( . How can a company do this to paying customers??

As they say, u get what u pay for. I myself would actually rather give my money to any of the other airlines, this place is the macdonalds of the airline industry.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 334 ✭✭zeusnero

With Ryanair you get what you pay for... if you want better service then choose to fly with another company, if you want low cost choose ryanair - any i don't know why people are whinging - for god sake they haven't even added a fuel surcharge when some companies have upped their surcharges 3 or 4 times this year...

And in my time flying with ryanair I've never had a problem with baggage going missing & the most they were ever late was 15 minutes. Granted some people have bad experiences with them and this is what get publicised so they get a bad rep, but they ahave the best price & punctuality statistics in Europe...

The point I'm trying to make is that you may not get a better service because you pay more.

    What's good about Ryanair

    - Flights never late. Always on time. Handy for a daily business trip
    - Nearly always slightly cheaper than other airlines but it depends on when you're booking

    What's bad about Ryanair.
    - Not flexible at all
    - they apply overbooking policies like most airlines, so if you're the last one to checkout and there are no more seats, then you'll have to spend a night in a cheap hotel with no breakfast.
    - Very unfriendly staff
    - Not to be used if you fly for a week with kids. You'll pay overweight excess baggage, even though, you take the minimum + kid's baggage doesn't count for one and they're really strict on the size of the hand baggage you're carrying, so be very careful and make sure you measure, weigh your baggages before heading to the airport.
    - There can be uncomfortable/broken seats (especially when you have kids on your knees)
    - Noisy planes (earplugs do the job)

I used Ryanair for the last 8 years since I'm ireland and I reckon their competitive prices is degrading on the service offered but ppl don't really care. I just hope that this won't expand when it comes to plane maintenance.

Sometimes, when you compare the total price including the shuttle to the final destination, you might as well consider some other airline. Travelocity.co.uk is handy to compare prices

    Cheers

I fly from Birmingham to Dublin on a fairly regualr basis. I have used both Aer Lingus and Ryanair several times and I find that Aer Lingus tends to have cheaper flights. Aer Lingus service is far better to that of Ryanair and I have never once had a Ryanair flight be on time.

The luggage restrictions are ridiculous with Ryanair. 15kg is not enough. I spent a month in Finland this summer and flew back with Ryanair. Luckily my parents were driving back so they could take most of my luggage back with them. Aer Lingus' is only 5kg more but that extra 5kg means that I don't have to unpack at the check in desk and pile clothes and make up into my handbag.

I don't get why people say Aer Lingus is so much more expensive. They used to be but now they are a budget airline as well. The flights I'm getting with Aer Lingus add up to £46. Ones with similar times on the same dates with Ryanair are £58.

If your book well in advance aer lingus is either the same or perhaps slightly cheaper/more expensive, but only slightly. I would advice any1 booking in advance to use anything but ryan air, they are useless.

Just booked Aer Lingus to Paris - out Dec 31st, back Jan 6th, ten euro per person cheaper than Ryanair, and that's not taking into account whatever LyingAir charge you to take you from the field they land you in to something resembling a city.

They're not always the cheapest (ex-Dublin) - not even often the cheapest.
