I am. It's a pity though that it's just a clinique not a workshop where u could bring your own guitar.

I still think it's gonna be fun, I'll bring a camera, maybe I can take a photo with Paul.

    Can't wait :)

How much is this, I'm already going to Vai, so this might be a bit of a stretch.

Heeeeeey, I'm going to Vai too. I've already been to his concert 5 years ago during Ultra ZOne tour. It'll be a great gig - he's got Tony MacAlpine and Billy Sheenam in band now - GREAT STUFF!

Paul Gilbert plays at Temple Bar Music Centre on 17th. It's a guitar clinique so I guess he'll be showing some tricks to people. Tickets are 15e.

I think i just might go to this. :)

Does anyone know if you can pay at the door?

    Doc, you going?

Btw, this would be better in gigs/events if someone can move it..

GStormcrow - i'm working til 1730 so i can't make it to Musician before closing time, that's why i was hoping i can pay at the door.
It says tickets available "exclusively" in Musician - sh1t.... :(

Did you get your ticket already? If you're going to Musician is there any chance you can get me a ticket and i'll meet you before the show starts (and pay you then - plus a pint in interest)?

    Anyone?

Just got back from this........all i can say is:

    Jaysus.

Maybe i'll have more words tomorrow.

    Same here......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did't know his work too good to be honest, I don't even own any of his CDs.
But after today THIS DUDE IS RIGHT NEXT TO STEVE VAI ON MY SHELF!!!!
He's awesome. I was very pleased with the fact that it wasn't just 3 hours of pointless shredding (although I like it too) ,he can play anything!

    Great show.

Yeah, i don't have anything by him either, but when a guitar maestro like that comes to town, you just gotta go....

It was excellent, i'm still reeling from it. In fact it was so good that i got a little bit drunk, by accident of course.

I was so impressed, not just with his playing (duh) but with him - he's just such a normal, down to earth, very like-able guy!

It was so funny too - "you must watch what you say" - when someone screamed "Abba!!".

    :D:D

Did he play Technical Difficulties? I love that song. Would have really liked to make it but I'm broke after the new gear. He is often overlooked in the bigger sense when it comes to vai, satriani, malmsteen etc.. which is a real pity because he is incredible. So what exactly did it involve? Anyone care to give a little walkthrough of what went on. I'm just curious because it wasnt labeled a gig but a clinic which i've never seen before

Yep he played technical difficulties - "its called that becuase its really hard to play"

I have it recorded, ive 3 or 4 full songs on vid, their like 16mb im on dial up, so u wont be seein them till i get bradband, wenever that is.......

But i do have pics and a small vid i took on my fone....

(^^^ vid opens in quicktime and link mite die soon so be quick)

i went to get a pic with him, but i was at the bar and i just missed him as i went back down to get a foto, but i cant complain it was a great nite, the setup was great and i got front row seats

I had to fuel up my tank at the bar, so i was a few minutes late so i didn't get a seat - but i think i had the best view ever right at the side of the stage near the door! :)

It hurts to watch someone play so effortlessly. But then again, he probably didnt get a missus to nag him until quite a late age. :D

What a gig, had a great seat in the 2nd row!
As the guy who introduced him said, he really was a great entertainer as well as an amazing guitarist!
Played most of my favourite Racer X songs as well as some hilarious covers.
But who the **** were those two little retards who stopped the show because "Oh no, we have to leave early, mommy won't let us out past 10 o' clock, will you sign my guitar Mr. Giblet?"
& then there were the typical cappers in the back doing their best Hetfield "Yeeeaaah" impressions
