Am i the only one who spells "Curb" as Kerb?

Great game, got more points for throwing the ball over your head. And dont forget the annoyed look you had to give the drivers of cars that delayed the game.

    it is kerbies.......
    couple of rules i remember

if u hit the kerd and catch it you could go to the middle of the road and hit it from there u had to catch it each time or u go back to the other side.

also mad rules started being brought it , like taking the shot from inside someones garden back wards for 1000 points if u caught it u bascially were the king..

    *car comes* GAME OFF!!!
    *car goes* GAME ON!!

    we called it kerb.
if u hit the ball on the kerb and u catch it on the way back u get to take three jumps across the road to get as near to the opposite kerb as possible, u then have to hit the kerb with the ball three times catching it each time. if u do this, u swap sides and u get a point, and possibly a dig off you opponent while swaping sides.

Its just a few weeks ago that I had my last game of curbs. Dunno if anyone else played this rule but if you hit the other persons curb and it comes back and hits yours without hitting the ground, you win the game.

Curbs should be an olympic sport

Ah, we called it Kerbs and many summers were wasted in its grasp...

10 points for hitting the kerb and it coming back, 20 if you caught it and then you'd move into the middle of the road for 5 points per kerb, and you kept going til you missed. Classic.

my favourite thing about kerbs was the variety of shots - 5 points if you hit the other persons kerb, 15 if you hit their kerb while facing away any using 2 hands, 20 for facing away and using one hand and so on

...just had a flashback to the days of ammunition & simon says as well as tip the can

ah man... probably one of my favourite games in my childhood.
So many lazy summers evening playing kerbs with my best mate.
Thankfully, we lived in a quiet cul-de-sac, so our mad games were rarely disturbed by cars.... except for around 5/6pm when people came home from work.

I used to be a local master at this game. Used to play it with my World Cup Italia 90 football, and seems to have the total knack of it. Probably down to all the practice!

So many ways to earn points.... a great way to spend the evening after a frantic game of tip-the-can or manhunt.

    classic :D

Was playing the other day and forgot all about that rule!

Here were our rules (as I remeber them!)

10 points for a standard one arm throw
20 points for two arms overhead
50 points for two arms with your back facing the kerb
100 points for one arm with your back facing the kerb

If you catch the ball on its return without it bouncing,
Double the points for using two hands
Triple the points for catching it in one hand

Once you scored, you had to go to the middle,
    5 points for each hit
Double and triple points same as above

Once you finished your go in the middle, if your opponent was able to catch the ball and hit you with it, ALL your points were gone! (That was horrible!)

And once someone reached 500 points you swopped kerbs.

*God I love that game. I'll be playing on Saturday, "Roll on Saturday!"

kerbs rules! i loved playing it when i was younger, i really want a game now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭dream brother

Yeah curbs was Kool! think there's a thousand different ways to play it. Some friends and I came up with Super Curbs when we were younger, which had loads of made up rules, like if you kick the ball over your head and it hits the curb you are the champion of the world (or you just win the game)! Man when you're younger you would play just about anything and not give a shít...as long as you enjoyed it!

Ah kerbs - a great game. also known as Paths back in the early days.

We had a kerbs championship on our road - medals an all.

yeah i remeber that game, but we had, what you would consider messed up rules, ours was a bit similar but with different points, we had..

5 - taken from the middle of the road on the tar line if you got the following
    10 - standerd throw
20 - two arms, back facing kurbs
40 - one arm, back facing kurb

half the game points on an "over the car shot"
win the game if you got a "from the garden shot"

we once had a game of curbs up to 1000 one day, and my first shot was a garden shot and i won the bastard... awh good times eh?

I played 10 points for hitting the kerb.
Then you move to the middle of the road and shoot for 5 points. If you miss however, the other person can throw the ball at you and if they hit you, you lose all your points!
20 points if it bounces back of your kerb. Also those special throws got about 20 points, depending on distance etc.

Stopping for cars, yeah that was annoying.... BUT 20 POINTS IF YOU THROW IT OVER THE CAR AND SCORE!

    Kerbs.. Classic.

Curbs was a classic and always will be. Someone whould make a Curbs 2005 for a console im sure it'd sell although everyone has different rules to the game so it may be quite contreversial.

oh yeah i forgot about that move... we used to call it a BUST and the double curb move jaysus thanks for reminding me
