    Hi

I've just got broadband and decided to update Windows 2000 to SP4.

Did the Express download etc. and followed all on screen instructions.

Restarted laptop and now McAfee Security Centre and Internet Explorer (5.0) don't work.

There is a pop up error message to the tune of

    Program Error
ieplore.exe could not start. please restart the program. An error log has been created. No other details are given.

I cant get broadband to connect so have no Internet access

Has anyone else had this problem - have ordered SP4 again and IE6 from Microsoft but would like to hear other people's exp.

    THanks
    S

You should have downloaded the network install as the express installer downloads from the internet......but a network install can be easily slipstreamed and gives a full Win2000SP4 install disc.

    PM me for more info.

"ieplore.exe" - sounds like a virus or spyware to me...

    Guys,
This is defiently a virus or spyware.
Was you AV working okay and updated before the update was installed and did you do a full virus and Malwarescan before you ran the update?
Can you uninstall the update in the interm?
Also be aware that MS releases a "Post SP4 Update" about 2 months ago-there have been a few issues with this so check the MS site before Installing.

    To clarify,

the filename should have read iexplore.exe

Do you think the SP4 Network and the new IE6 install will fix the issues?

    All other programmes are OK
