Yep great stuff, mostly because of Locke...but a lot of people won't like this ep...Im not sure why,I just have a feeling they wont.

because its not.....i had actually forgotten how bloody useless this episode is,
the only worthwhile thing that happens is the
piece of metal gets a name i.e. 'the hatch'
    .

    i mean ffs
the main drama in the episode turns out to be a drugged delusion
    .

The whole point/plot of Lost has obviously passed you by! The spoiler you mention above has significant importance, especially as it comes from Locke and his 'hidden' knowledge of the island

    Ye well said!
This ep is more about Locke than it is Boone and Shannon! and anything with Locke is good.but as i said, people will not like it for similar reasons herobear just mentioned.

We probably shouldnt be even posting spoilers before it airs....but i didnt start it! :D:p lol

This is a good episode let down by a poor backstory based on boring characters...

I'll reserve further comment until the episode is finished...

Best episode so far IMO. At last some monster action again even though it's not really the monster.

The magnetic inclination bit was interesting - makes me think they may not be on Earth anymore. Or maybe in some Truman Show style simulator. Or could there be something on the island generating a massive magnetic field?

The Jin/Hurley bit kinda went over my head. I'll have to watch the Friday repeat to get that.

Nice to see nearly all the characters getting a look in somewhere in the episode.

Weird but good ep imo. I thought Kate would've figured out that Sun now knows that Kate has an important secret.

Ummm...so far people like it...:p but i think others wont. Watching this again,I really liked it. I have never liked Boone,so that didn't help first time around. But everything about Locke was great...he is the conducter (like the C4 ad shows),and you can tell there was a lot more to it just being the stuff he put on his head,it was the island, notice how Locke already had the stuff made, saying "it is for later",like he knew what was going to happen...and the whole sleeping with the sister was weird, even if they aren't blood related! lol

I had also forgot about the stuff between Hurley and Jin,Hurley is great,he is the funniest character "pee on my foot!",and just trying to get some food. Kate also finds out about Sun,Sun's garden,Michael looking in a box from when he found his luggage, all small things but interesting

Also...anyone notice Sawyer getting arrested while Boone was in the police station? :D

Maybe not the most interesting characters, but nonetheless the backstory was done really well...using Locke to get Boone to let go.

Perhaps Locke didn't really see the monster in the earlier episode as suggested? Maybe he gave himself a helping of the herbal remedy to go on a similar quest?

Some ominous dialogue: "We may need him on our side" suggests a division in the camp to come.

Weird to see Sawyer in the police station in Boone's back story too.

Maybe they are just further north than they realise. If they were close to the pole it would have an affect on the compass, it would also explain the polar bear....... but not the weather?

I thought this was episode was good [although those 02 ads are getting more and more annoying  ]. I think it was better than last weeks episode anyway.

It was the first episode that really got me thinking about the plot, and why Locke seems to know so much and some of the other characters are seeming to revolve more around him.

The long dream/hallucination sequence got me thinking about how much of the rest of the events could have been hallucinations too...
....I just remembered Jack seeing his father on the island in a much earlier epsode, was it Locke who encouraged him to follow what he was seeing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭Femelade

so this "Stuff" that locke put on boone, it made his hallucinate that shannon got killed. when locke asked him afterwards how he felt he said relieved. so he was relieved that shannon died, prob cos he loves her and she's just a bitch or whatever.
so if he puts this stuff on the others, will their true feelings come out in delusion?

He put it on an open wound so whatever it was it would have got into Boone's blood stream.

Clearly some sort of monster exists, as everyone couldn't have been having the same hallucination at the same time.

Interesting to see Sawyer in Boone's back story. It's the first time that he's been placed in Australia. It doesn't explain how he got there though.

I missed Michael looking into the box. So much subtle stuff to watch out for.

It was ok. There's been better. I don't like Boone so that didn't help. I thought Locke was cool but after seeing this it's made me unsure of how good he actually is.

I dont think that the mixture he put on Boones head had anything to do with the halucination he had, it was to keep the wound clean. It was the island showing boone something, like its showed jack & locke.

Apart from that the episode was great, it was gripping and better than last weeks. I knew there was something wrong about the monster, it was too out of scale, I mean its legs or whatever looked like great oaks and anything moving like that would leave huge trails behind, visable to even a noobie tracker, also you could probably hear it for miles too.

Good point, but it still doesn't explain why Locke was mixing the concoction long before he knocked out Boone

No part of the monster has been shown at all. Good point about the lack of tracks though. Very mysterious.

I definately saw a something big and brown and hairy come down leg like as Boone and the bitch were running away. Granted that was in the halocination(sp) bit, but there was something shown.

Something big, brown and hairy... eh?

... nope... sorry to disappoint you but what you saw was a tree trunk being ripped outta the ground!

    Watch here! (2 sec WMV - 400KB)

OK, so I got the direction of travel wrong. :o

But that does explain joejoem saying that it looked like great oaks I suppose. :D

Was alcohol consumption of a feature of your viewing of this episode?

That would be a good excuse, but I guess I just wasn't paying attention. And it was only a split second shot so just goes to prove that if you don't quite really see something clearly then your brain will fill in the blanks as it see fit.

I think the hatch is part of a plane buried in the island.

As for the Beast, it's probably just Locke playing BBC Sound Effects Volume 5 - Terrible Monster Type A.

hahaha... yes... it's all an elaborate plot for Locke to win the King of the Sheep Competition

so are we to believe that Jin can speak english?
when hurley got stung by the urchin, he was getting Jin to pee on him (for the laugh, you know?) but Jin kept saying no.
Also Hurley was saying something about wanting a fish for eating the food he was given from Jin, and then he received the fish!

or did i completely miss the point of that section?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

    Good
I think Hurley trying to undo Jin's pants so he could pee on him got through,as did Hurley trying to fish, but failing very badly :)
