So 3 of us are heading off on a 2 zone (Zones C and D) on the 22nd, returning 13th Sept. That's irrelevant but I'll continue anyway. We're flying home from Amsterdam which isn't in our zones. What will we have to do about getting there. We'll be starting off in germany which is in our zone, so what sort of fare will we have to pay? I saw somebody mentioned somewhere else that we'll have to pay a supplement (I think that's what it's called) to get into a different zone and that it's not too expensive. Any light-shedding would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

When I went from Italy to Hungary on a train we cut through Austria for about 40 minutes. Austria wasn't in our zone and we had to pay a €33 or so supplement for those 40 minutes. Bloody expensive. Also trains in Germany are unbelievably expensive (like €50 one way for a 2-3 hour journey) so be prepared to pay... lots.

Try checking the the Die Bahn website ( German Rail ) at
http://www.db.de/site/bahn/en/start.html or Dutch Rail on http://www.ns.nl maybe it could give you a lil idea
    of costs !

That's cheaper than a one way Dublin - Cork :)

Yeah a six hour journey so that makes sense. Howeever if you take an IC instead of an ICE (same journey time) is it just about €90.
