    hmm i dont think anyone has been abusive to me like how you said since primary school, i cant imagine a boss doing it, you must be a wuss to let someone abuse you like that, start doing weights / martial arts and watch how attitudes towards you change

    If you broke your leg while working for him you are entitled to a lot more then just the days pay, go talk to the CAB they'll be able to give you good advice, but if your boss is that much of a prick then quit.

    oh :) 15 is young to be working, but still you got nothing to be afraid of telling him to **** off. no one deserves to take shjt from anyone in work, be it customer and especially managment

    Unfortunately, it's a tough lesson to learn. No matter if you're 15 and he's fifty, he can't fire you for defending yourself. And if he did fire you, you've plenty of things to grass him up on.

    It's really up to you. He may have been having a bad day, he may just be a prick - either way you don't have to take that, but your only option is to defend yourself or leave. If starts mouthing off again, stay calm and reasonable, and point out to him the sign, and that you're only doing what you're supposed to.

    There are people out there who seem to feel the need to act like a complete asshole for the sake of it.

    The question I have to ask is, how badly do you need the money?

    Personally, I've always put my own dignity over any amount of money earned. However, for another month, yeah I could probably stick it out if it was only on weekends and I needed the cash.

    If he fires you, you can make an issue out of it. Read up on your rights and see what you are and are not entitled to. Personally, for a summer job, I'd just get over it and never go back there as an employee. But that's easy for me to say.

    They don't seem to be a very nice group to work for, from what you've said both in this thread and the one ages back. Are they paying you enough to get over the abuse until the summer ends? Assuming of course that you need the money.

    It's a tough one to call mate. If it was a full time job it'd be a lot clearer, but since it's only for a summer and you're leaving in a month or so (I'm assuming here), then it's a bit of a toss up. Leaving now probably means no more work for the summer, but staying on means having a job but taking **** for doing it.

    Not a nice choice. Maybe look for some job in a shop or similar you could keep on for 1 day a week when you return to school?

    Who told you that you should have been paid for the full day, for hours you didn't work after your accident? I think this person was mis-informed.

    Don't you think it was a bit irresponsible of yourself to go skating when you were the only one working at the time as you say...or if there were customers there also, who was looking after the customers then while you skated? or maybe there were none at the time which is still irresponsible of you. Kind of like a lifeguard going for a swim alone in an empty pool. Who guards the life guard if he gets into difficulty?

    Sorry to hear about your leg though, but I would move on and look for another job before you go back to school. Say you continued to work in the skatepark, I think the joy is gone out of it for you unfortunely and rather than make yourself stressed out and unhappy there, I personally would leave and get another job.

    No a 15 year old can work upto 8 hours a week during term time.

    A 14 year old or younger, can't work at all during term time.

    Just because a rule isn't enforced fully doesn't mean you shouldn't obey it. I know it's hard to resist but...


    Skating on the job just strikes me as a very bad idea. I know, it probably alieviates the boredom and such, but you have no protection under Health and Safety if something happens, as it did.

    The owner can just say, he shouldn't have been skating, he's not meant to be, and there's the case dismissed.

    I am open to correction here, but this would be my reading of the laws around this. Health and Safety laws only come in when you injure yourself while doing work. If you injure yourself while doing something you shouldn't be doing during work then I'm not sure you are covered at all.

    Seriously though were you there to skate or work?
    Did you have a contract with your employer?

    Put it this way, would you pay someone for hours not worked, if you ran a business? No you wouldn't. It's different of course if the person involved who has the accident has a contract and works full-time, isn't on probation period etc (or even isn't drunk or on drugs). Basically there are laws to cover this more formalised work situation.

    As the employee in charge ( even at 15 years of age ) you have a responsibility towards those people who may be injured in the Park. Definitely speak to the HSA about the lack of first aid and lack of even basic training - have you been trained in CPR?? (or is that a silly question?).
    You could bring a serious amount of trouble down on this guys head if you choose to do so. Get your parents to bring you to a solicitor- one who specialises in personal injuries claims ( look them up in Yellow Pages). Your parents need to sue on your behalf. If any medical evidence can be produced that your injury was made worse by the fact that you were delayed in going to hospital by poor staffing and management then that guy had better hold on to his wallet!
