    NOT A BAD BEAT STORY

hey lads, jus looking 4 your help on how i could of played this better or whether or not you agree with my decision and reasoning behind it.
Down to final 9 in a $12mtt,blinds are 800/1600 and i have 13.5k in chips.chip leader has roughly 35k,i have 3 smaller stacks than me,4k,7k and 11k.the prize structure is very top heavy.

Im in mid position 3 off the bb and get dealt AKo, utg moves all in for 14k.Now this guy has limped on the button twice with pocket aces and seems a very trappy player who slowplays a lot. As a result i reckon hes moving in here with either 77-JJ or AQ,AJ,KJ etc. Im also drawn to this conclusion by the fact that hes just lost half his stack 2 hands ago and could easily be tilting.

My question is whether or not you think I should call based on my read.Do you think I should gamble here with the prize struture being so top heavy? Also with 5 players behind me, do I take them into consideration when making my decision?

As it turned out i called and he flipped over KJ however a player behind me woke up with queens and i was gone.Any thoughts about whether i was right or wrong??

there`s no right or wrong. your right if you win, wrong if you don`t.

any pair, pre-flop, was ahead of you. i would`ve thought he`d a pair to say the least.
    fairly reckless,
as he was ahead in the chip stakes against the 3 other players you`ve mentioned.
i would`ve seen a flop with K/J and then moved.

personally, i wouldn`t have called. especially all the shorter stacks behind you 4k, 7k, 11k, who mightn`t have called but seeing their chance to make substantial chips and as they were already in the money would`ve called for value.

    that`s my take anyway!

i think it was good play you were right. You judged it correct and got the chips in when ahead, not great postioning, but then only people calling would probably be AA-KK-QQ

    And mark
there`s no right or wrong. your right if you win, wrong if you don`t.

So if i go all in and lose to a one outer, i was wrong

You have AK and 9 times the big blind and you unequivocally put the UTG player on a hand that is no better than yours. This is a great time to gamble.

that`s cos this was probably fresh in my mind! no fault.
everyone is welcome to come bust me on VC because, obviously!, i haven`t a clue!

home game tonight,(just home), i was the short stack and was raised 30,000 and i pushed with A/K and took it down.
