    Hi there guys.

I have a repeat networking exam(college - cert - year 1) on the 24th, have all the materials and I am fairly IT minded however my study methods leave a lot to be desired, and I was thinking of ways to study and make it more appealing, just cant motivate myself, is there anyone out there with sufficent knowledge(IP addressing, subnetting, network layers) to be a mentor over either msn or yahoo messengers, i can send you the paper and we can talk(chat) about key points etc, this exam means alot and i am desperatly seeking ways to pass it,

Sitting down and studying does not work for me i know people will reply telling me thats way to do it, tried not working.

Not sure what i can do to repay but maybe someone out there just uses messenger and doesnt mind been bugged for a while, i would do it if I thought knowledge i had would help someone(and have done). then again I am always logged in.

    Dave

Don't blame bounty for having a laugh. It's your own fault you're having to repeat, as you said yourself your study methods leave a lot to desired, therefore *any* advice someone gives to you should be appreciated.

lol, i'd be very careful about who you call names. It's YOUR fault your having to repeat, not ours. We don't have to help you. Boards isn't here to help you pass your exams. I'd be grateful that anyone is taking time out to give you a hand

Is it about packet and routing types and different protocols? might be similar to my data communications course.

Do all the exam papers and then learn them

packet and routing types and different protocols

Network layers very important =OSI Model

subnetting may not be important if you can choose a different question to do

    what college you in ???

Correct, you don't have to make smart arse comments either. If people have nothing to contribute they shouldn't bother posting.

The guy is looking for a study buddy or just someone to bounce questions about stuff off hes unsure about.

I know this because I mentored him on his Java exam (took all of 2 hours of my time over a course of week), and anyone who knows me knows that I don't have time for any muppets looking to have their homework done for them.

He had actually asked me this request based on previous time. I suggested boards.ie might be a place to find someone to help out as it is not my area of expertise.

I apoligise if offended anyone, i shouldnt have first of. People say that i should get of my arse and do it myself....well at
the end of the day it is me that enters the exam hall and write the paper not any of you guys so i am not asking
anyone to do the work for me, i am the one doing it, as hobbes put it

If i was so lazy i wouldnt be asking for the help of people, i wouldnt care about the exam, and if 'talking' about a topic is the method of study that works for me so be it.

For all you guys know i have learning difficulties, not saying i do or i dont, but alot of people here (helpful ones excluded!) are very quick to judge someone from a few lines of text.

Again I apoligise 100% for any comments i have made on this page against anyone who i offended.

Do you have a home computer? The best thing you can possibly do to learn is to play around with it yourself.

I do have home pc. but exam is networking theory hard to play around with, especially on a standalone

I don't know what the story is on Windows; but on Linux you can create as many virtual interfaces as you feel like, and play with them.

i know what ur getting at but the exam is more stuff like, ip addressing scheames, cabling, subnetting etc, not something u would learn on a standalone. thanks though
