    -"Massive widescreen 15.4' LCD display"
    -XP Home
    -DVDRW Multidrive
    -Multicard reader
    -512 MB RAM
    -40 GB HDD
    -56k Modem
    -MS Works 8.0
    -Wireless
    -Firewire port

When it says firewire, you would imagine a couple of USB 2.0s come as standard I suppose. Obviously it would be necessary to investigate the finer points of the spec a little, but at €799 (with some kind of interest-free payment option) it would be well worth a look IMO.

Got one of these tonight. No Firewire. No multicard reader. 3 Usb Ports. 1.4 Ghz Celeron CPU. Bringing it back tomorrow. False publication of specs. If I can get him to knock 50 euros off I will keep it.

Brought it back. The guy said he would send it back to Iqon. It would take about 10 days to get one with advert spec. I said NO! He offered to give me a voucher for 799 Euro's. A bloody voucher. NO! NO! NO! I said. I insisted on getting my money. I got my money back in the end. Anyone know any good Laptop websites.

    Can't go wrong with Dell.ie
Great value compared to every other manufacturer out there.
Check out the Inspiron 6000 in particular, can get a Pentium M 740 with a gig of RAM, 60 GIG HD and 64MB Radeon X300 for €1,064.

    Who?
    Dell?

Guess I'll be finding out tomorrow when I get my Inspiron 6000

I've heard conflicting reports on Dell's quality.
Many say they're excellent but there are always a view voices on here saying how crap they are and never backing their comments up with hard facts.

In my time researching which laptop to buy I've heard almost all of the major brands are rubbish from someone, aside from Sony that is.
But when Sony's are so damn expensive they'd want to be well made.

On the value front (from a component perspective), no-one gets near Dell.
If I'd bought the same laptop from any other company it would have cost at least 1400€ as opposed to the 1050€ I did pay.
