Man what an awesome game, those south africans know how to tackle! Poor old all blacks got smashed apart physically.

Delighted to see South Africa doing as well the south african defense was just so aggressive.

South African defence was amazing. It was so in your face. They totally destroyed the all blacks, with so many bone crunching tackles.

Must say was delighted to see SA win, they definatly deserved to. It was also very funny to watch the amount of mistakes that crept into the AB's game when put under the knife by SA. Was weird to see Carter F*ck up so many times

Anyway all in all a great game to watch.

Ya, good game to watch despite all the errors. I was going to put a few bob on SA yesterday but I chickened out because the handicap was too small. Is there some international conspiracy among refs to never ping the ABs for charging into, around and over the top of rucks constantly? Poor tactical approach on the part of the ABs too - trying to play 15 man rugby, offloading from every tackle almost smacks of arrogance. It might work against a relatively untrained side like the Lions but the Bokkes just ate it up. Busting a gut to keep the ball in play (while going backwards) by offloading at even the hint of a tackle so that it can end into the hands of a fat slow prop on the wing doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Would have to agree here. There was also a few tackles where players were off their feet(Jumping for the ball) and the got seriously taken out, i was under the impression a player couldnt be tackled while in the air or maybe its just lineouts?

Anyway it was a great game which really showed how badly the lions actually did. They are human after all

I don't know if you could say new zealand have a "fat slow prop" anymore, and i still like the risky rugby new zealand play (apart from their illegal physicality) but it seems like we saw the new zealand of 2003 again on saturday - trying to outplay even themselves at their own game, making simple mistakes at vital moments, and seeming to get confused when it doesn't all work out. the only difference now is that they have results (against the lions) to back them up and huge expectations alongside them.

phase rugby might serve them better; they could play australia at their own game on saturday. and i thought the SA rush defence was amazing. that's how they win games, and that's where they fail when they have no confidence.

i see that kelleher could be out for weeks with injury. this means the ABs have hardly any international-level scrum half cover, now marshall has left. they might find it tough in that department. and umaga's ankle....

Great match. Ya the SA tackling was over the top at times but it was a lesson in how to deal with fancy moves. I'd like to see us taking this style of defense against sides like wales.

that SA scrum half, januarie (wrong spelling I know) what a tackler for his size, he's like having an extra back rower on your team. Excellent

i'd love to see ireland use this rush defence style, but their own style of constant cover defence seems to work well. i reckon if we used the SA style of running straight up to the opposition, some of the slower forwards would leave big gaps. it would be interesting to see some team blitz wales though, it could make them lose confidence, but then there would be no risk rugby teams out of the 4 home nations!

If our backrow and 2nd row contested every tackle like SA we could pull off that style. Drift is fine against less creative sides but I really do think you gota hammer sides like Australia, New Zealand, Wales etc instead of giving them the time to run at you.
