    Hi all knowledgeable people :)

I bought a Nokia 6101 yesterday SIM-free, as did my mom. I'm on O2 (pre-pay), she's on Vodafone (bill). O2 sent me out the settings from the Nokia website for GPRS / MMS / WAP. Vodafone wouldn't send my mom the settings so I went onto the Nokia site and sent them onto her phone myself.

Problemo! Her phone works perfect - she can send and receive MMS, log onto the web connection, but I can't. I tried sending her an MMS which worked grand - she got the picture, etc. Then I sent one from her phone to me - I got it, but the picture showed up as a ? box instead.

Also, I can't connect to the web either on the phone - it keeps saying "Subscribe to GPRS first" and then "Connection Not Available". I rang O2 back but they said that because the phone is still in testing, they don't have the settings up in front of them yet. So I dunno what to do :(

Can anybody help me please, I'd very much appreciate it :)

hi, was your previous handset working with GPRS MMS and WAP) on O2? or will this be the first time you have used those services with your SIM card / account...

if you haven't used these service before call up O2 support saying you want to be provisioned for GPRS MMS and WAP services (if they ask what handset you have just pick a Nokia from their site and say it is that one)... then try it... still a problem then check the settings against those in the Sticky on this forum's main page

I never used MMS on my old phone (6610). I tried to before, but that was aaages ago when MMS first came out and you couldn't send an MMS from one network to another, so I never bothered using it then after that.

But GPRS worked grand on that phone for me.

I looked at the settings in the sticky, but I haven't a clue of where to find 'em on the new phone. I've gone into the Configuration settings, but no luck so far. I've tried the other menus too, but nothings coming up that has options like those in the sticky :( Weird thing is that I can send MMS but not receive it

I rang O2 again and they sent me the settings for the 6230i but now when I try to connect to GPRS, it says Check homepage, agh!

best to look at the manual for the settings / configs - if you want list out the settings (in a template style i.e. setting title/field) that need filling in I'll slot the relevant bits in if you want to give that a try...

basically you need to be provisioned on the network, put the right bits in the right place, and in the case of an unsupported handset you also have to hope there isn't some kind of issue with how it works on a particular network...

so the usual items to be entered in are:

Access Point Name, user, pass and IP (and Port) details for WAP

Access Point Name, user, pass, MMS Server URL and IP (and Port) details for MMS

Okay, I have a slight update ... I just tried on the off-chance of entering a web address and seeing if it woud connect (o2.ie) and it did! But if I click on Home, it says Check Home Address. I have no idea where to find the Home Address though, I've checked everything

hi, try looking around the menu items discussed in the manual:
You can configure your phone with settings that are required for certain services to function correctly. The services are browser, multimedia messaging, remote Internet server synchronization, presence, and e-mail application. Get the settings from your SIM card, from a service provider as a configuration message, or enter your personal settings manually.

have a look through the relevant Connectivity (p81) browser settings to see if Homepage is in there... if not try looking through the Web settings (p112)
