    hey,

down south in Ko Lanta at the moment. heading to Chang Mai on Monday for last 2 weeks of trip.

What would you recommend us to do, where to go etc? were thinking of going into Laos for a while but will we have enough time to appreciate it?

Also, heard Pai was worth a look?

any suggestions would be most helpful.

    Thanks,

    k. :)

Chiang Mai is pleasant all right but you wouldn't want to spend two weeks there. Pai is supposed to be nice but I gave it a miss becuase it's the banana pancake backpacker capital of Thailand. The whole hill tribe thing didn't appeal to me either.

Laos is a great country but the only major draw within striking distance of Chiang Mai is Luang Prabang and that would take a day's bus travel there and back which is a bit time-consuming. But Thai Air fly CM - LP - CM a few times a day; I paid less than €100 one way.

i'm in pai now. its the best place ever imo. if you like to chill out and get away from the likes of chang mai and bangkok madness, come to this place. im sleeping outdoors basically, and you'll meet the friendliest travellers up here. im going to loas in a few days, so i'll tell ya what its like soon.

    bill :)
