firstly to any arseholes, i'm only talking about what i've read and perceived.

i was just thinking, from what i know of the first punks and my favourite punk bands, they kinda fit in with what qe call skangers today, only they dont/didnt look stupid, listen to dance/rap/hip-hop and they had an agenda (even if they didnt know what it was)

punks: skangers:

drugs | drugs
violence | violonce
random insults | random insults
general sleazyness | general sleazyness


obviously there are plenty of exceptions

TBH i'm bored and felt like posting something, but maybe we'll get a discussion out of it

again these are just my perceptions

Well at the moment I'm wearing "business casual". I'm not violent in the "I want to hurt" people sense of the word (i.e. Jimeatsmenu's nose wasn't intentionally broken)> I tend to keep myself to myself so random insults at people I don't know are a non-issue. Of course everyone I know is at the end of a constant river of abuse :P

You're right with some of it though. There are people in the scene that match the criteria you've listed pretty well. They aren't narrow minded **** though, well no the ones I've met anyway.

I think like that as long as my actions don't bother other people (unless they're meant to of course ). That does tend to go down the tubes once drink's involved though.

well for me, I'm gone straight-edge at the moment (well half-edge, something I've been experimenting with lately, it's when you drink a small bit with freinds and dont do drugs)
I don't do drugs, i only random insult my freinds :P, I'm not a violent person but when I'm at a gig and do jump around quite a bit but I don't go out of my way to hurt someone (unless they are a compelte wanker)
I'm a bit sleazy, as in I don't give a **** about what people think about me.

Think O(L)P was really talking about "old school" punks. The whole punk thing did come from the lower class. Which these days are generally nacks. But I don't think they can be compared now. It's very rare to meet a "punk" that is out to cause trouble or harm these days.
