Diverting incoming messages: is it possible?

I'm heading off to the UK for the weekend, and I've decided to try diverting messages sent to my Irish Meteor mobile to my Virgin number in the UK. I use a Siemens SX-1, and I've just activated the "all data calls" option, providing an Irish number for test purposes. However, when I sent myself a text from MyMeteor, it arrived as normal.
Anyone know if it's possible to divert incoming messages - and if so how?
    Thanks.
    Ciaran

text messages aren't considered data calls
you'd have to get on to your service provider to sort this

When I was on Vodafone I asked and was told that it wasn't possible. (read: they can't be bothered to set up such an ultimitly futile service as they haven't fully grasped the widespread popularity of SMS yet)
