DVD Problem

I got a dvd off a friend that has music files on it. My laptop used to read it fine, but now when I put the dvd in the prompt dialog in Windows XP doesn't show up and when I try open the dvd drive through My Computer, My Compluter freazes for a while then shows up empty. I've tried other dvds and they work fine. I can hear the dvd drive spinning. I've tried it in a dvd player and it sees all the files.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like its the format + or -....
Is the DVD drive on your PC dual?
    Has the DVD been finalised?

Not sure of the format, or if it's finalised. The dvd drive is dual format. I wouldn't mind, but it was working fine up to yesterday/

If it worked fine then its not a different format..Try cleaning the disc run it under cool water & gently wipe dry with tissue wiping from the inside out. Do this even it the disc looks clean, it s wooked a treat for me plenty of times

Have you tried any other DVDs in that drive since?

    Yep, they worked perfectly

For whatever reason your laptop doesn't like the disc.. Do you have another PC to try it in ? If you get another machine to read it try burning a copy onto a different brand of disc.. Overall I prefer to stick to DVD-R they seem to be more compatible...
