Quest for sheet music

It looks like most of you here are guitar heads so this might be a long shot, but I'm looking for some decent online sources for FREE piano sheet music, specifically modern/contemporary pieces.

99.9% of the links on google and every other search engine I've tried lead to things which are not, in fact, free (apart from the odd selection of classical pieces, which I don't need any more of) and I'm sick and tired of hunting through endless pages of crap only to find that nothing is what it claims to be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Someone posted a link here for sheet music before afaik but the search engine is down at the mo. Typical!

Yeah, that would be my fault for being jinxed.

I'm constantly looking for free piano sheet music. 8notes.com, sheetmusicplus.com. They give you the first page of the piece but you have to buy the book online to get all the music.

If you have a good ear, the first page is a start and then you can work out bits here and there if you know the melody.

That's exactly what I've been doing so far, but I've recently taking to downloading random things I've never heard of before to test my sight-reading, which makes it impossible to make up the rest as I go along :(

You got any particular pieces you want? I'll see if I can find anything for ya.

I want some Billy Joel, Dream Theater (which has so far proved completely impossible to get for free, stingy bastards) and a few Pink Floyd songs, I don't mind what else.

    Want a list?

I'm just pondering. There's notation software available that I think can transcribe midi. Soooo, get some midi tracks of DT, Pink Floyd, whatever, lob it into the program et voila, sheet music.

I considered that, but would it be able to transcribe completely accurately? I'm very fussy when it comes to music being played exactly as it was intended to be played :P

It all depends on the input. Some of them can be fairly accurate. And if it isn't quite right, you can change it (I'm sure )

Yeah, if I want to spend bloody ages going through the songs and picking out the exact chord combinations...

Which I don't by the way :) Hence just wanting the sheet music to start with.
