    Hi All,

I would like to make a formal complaint concerning the content of a newspaper article on the grounds of inaccurate and biased journalism.

Do we have something akin to the Press Complaints Commission in Ireland. Have looked on internet but to no avail.

    Cheers.

You could check with the ombudsmans's office. They may be able to tell you.

If the article is damage-causing you may have civil or even criminal recourse.

If the article is very innacurate, the most worthwhile thing for you to do might be to seek a right to reply, or a letter to the editor, that can correct errors.

If it's a matter of opinion, then you'll be told to stuff it.

If it's a real issue, and a real title, most editors will give you a fair hearing.

If the article is damage-causing, then the courts are your best option: we don't actually have a press council in Ireland. Opinion is divided about whether that's a good thing or not.

May I ask the content, and tone of the article and where it was published?

Theres a couple of different remedies, but it would depend on the how inaccurate and biased it is.

Thanks very much, this is very useful.

Article was denigrating towards a specific group of vunerable people, relying on ignorant stereotyping rather than concrete facts to make an argument. Rather similar to racist or sexist abuse, in the same general tone as that. Thanks again, I will write first to the editor and try to see if they will publish a rebuttal from me or an apology to those offended (of which there were several).
