I bought a Scart cable in the Blackrock market a couple of months ago! Previously used presumably, but didn't cost much as far as I remember.

There is also HiFiCables.co.uk . They have scarts up to 3 metres long although they are not cheap.

you should pay as much as you can afford, thats long for a scart and
you will need high quality to get a decent picture from it...

Thinking outside the box here for a moment, but wouldn't it be better and/or cheaper just to extend the coax cable from the TV outlet to the digibox, and connect the digibox to the TV with the shorter, supplied SCART cable?

This thread was setup to research a few places where these cables could be sourced, The Digibox / TV are located in my local residents association bar , which for most of last seasons premiership had a faulty scart which caused a jump or pause in the picture , we complained about the problem and they are finally getting something done about it ... I'm gonna pass on any sites / shops / ideas to them to get the best cost effective / best quality solution.. so hopefully this seasons footy will be easier to watch...

I can't see how a dodgy scart lead would pause/jump a picture. I ahve seen this effect with a few of my mates digital connections, I have never heard it blamed on cables. I put it down to a breakdown in signal coming into the box, or a faulty box. The cable going into the box may be damaged cuasing the box to output a faulty signal. But a scart lead does no processing so cannot pause a pic

I wondered about that too. Sounds like a problem with any one of a) the signal going into the digibox (cable or satellite?) b) the cable or connectors from the dish or cable connection to the box, or c) the box itself. If the SCART cable was faulty, the picture would just disappear every now and then, surely, not pause or jump.

Well thats the excuse the NTL guy gave when he came out to fix the box ... They put in a new Digibox and are sourcing a new (long) Scart .. Jump has now gone but theres a wavy line, like a slight blur that runs up and down the screen now (its not too bad though).. could that be from scart lead ??

The new digibox and/or him removing / replacing / tightening up the connector on the coax cable was what solved your problem then, not the SCART cable.

Quite possibly, probably bad shielding picking up interference from somewhere.

Most a/v sites would recommend a scart as short as possible and well sheilded. My father has poor reception sometimes, the NTL guy recommended a new coax going from the NTL point to the box, it is about 30ft of coax between them.
Alun is speaking perfect sense in that last post

the guys in the satellite and cable forums here would tell you what you need.
