    Hi all,

Don't take this the wrong way, but this place is a mess, I was looking to find out where there are some kung fu classes, and gave up halfway through my search, It's far too cluttered and disorganised.

My suggestion is something along the lines of what is done in the Programming board, where they have a stickied F.A.Q. Thread with each language having it's own link to a separate F.A.Q thread somewhere on the programming board. These FAQ threads aren't stickied, so if there are no new recent posts they don't clutter up the top of the board with hoards of sticky threads.

So for example you have links to a karate, ju jitsu, ...ad nauseum number of martial arts... FAQs, which will have a list of, well yes you guessed it, frequently asked questions, which may be answered in thread or on separate threads again.

Much less messy, and I dare say one of them frequently asked questions would be where and when can I find classes for martial art X, making my, and everyone elses search for common answers to common questions much easier.

    You know it mocks sense.

    Baz_

    The problem with that is

    a) the info changes all the time

    b) if someone makes a post such as ´where can I do kung fu in Cork´ they can be directed to the right person, or other people might say I don´t know about kung fu, but there´s a great bjj/thai/karate/kenpo/TKD club if you want to check it out. Or someone else might say I don´t know about Cork but there´s great kung fu in Dingle if you can travel. That can´t really hapen with a static FAQ.

FAQs are fine for issues that can be answered straight off and nobody wants to go over again and again, but if you want to find out about classes, don´t trawl through probably out of date threads, just make a new one saying:

´Hi guys, anyone know a place to train in kung fu in XYZ?´

    We don´t bite!

I agree with Clive here, if you just make a new thread about it the chances are you'll get the answers youi need. Or failing that you could ask in the "clubs in your area" sticky which is what a few people have done. The trouble with a FAQ thread is that some ppl would disagree with info other people have put up, and then it would all descend into a 5 page fight (we tend to have differing opinions on some subjects ;) ). The only way it could really work would be if it was split into different subsections for each martial art, with each section having a mod to keep tabs, but we don't really have enough traffic for that :(

I have to agree with Baz to a small extent. This has always been a busy forum with a regular flow of posts. I can see why it may seem disorganised, or messy. Thread will naturally go off topic from time to time, as s Hmod, I can not dispute that. Mods here don't really need to tidy up such things like that, but they do need to keep control of the debates. And damn it, but this is a major places for debates. Perhaps we need another Mod.....!!!!! But saying that, its up to the current mods to make that suggestion not me!!

But to get onto Clives comment, I agree that a FAQ thread is not the answer, due to the type of questions, and the broad range of answers one such question like what is the best MA to train in, can bring about.
