BILLY IDOL Announces Irish Concert Date
    News last updated: 04-08-2005

Billy Idol has confirmed a concert at Dublin's Point Theatre on 09 November, 2005. Tickets priced from 39.50 & 44.50 including booking fee go on sale Thursday 11 August.

After wowing crowds at The Download Festival, Donington earlier in the year, Billy Idol brings his 'Devil's Playground' tour to Ireland and the UK.

Joining Idol for these dates are long standing guitarist Steve Stevens, the inimitable Brian Tichy on drums, bassist Stephen McGrath and keyboard player Derek Sherinian.

The set will feature a mixture of old favourites including 'Rebel Yell' and 'Eyes Without A Face' together with new material from the critically acclaimed 'Devil's Playground'.

Idol has been touring in the US and as well as headline dates of his own, he has been part of the Warped Tour (featuring The Offspring and My Chemical Romance amongst others) and earlier this week, joined this year's Lollapalooza in Chicago where even a storm couldn't dampen the fans spirit.

'The hands-down hit of the day was, bizarrely, Billy Idol. Not content with wheeling out his own hits, such as White Wedding and Rebel Yell, he also had a crack a the Who's Who Are You and, most triumphantly, Van Halen's Jump, his only apparent justification being that these songs delivered in style would raise the roof. He wasn't wrong.' Daily Telegraph 13th June 05

'The amazing thing about Mr Idol is that not only is the music of the highest calibre, but his stage theatrics are superb - the amount of passion in his eyes or angst in his face when he is singing is just mind blowing - you get the impression that even today he whole heartedly believes in the lyrics he is belting out.' Efestivals 15 june 05

Although he's entering his fifth decade, Billy Idol is a testament to the youth-preserving effects of rock 'n' roll and a hedonistic lifestyle. Possessing a voice that can still growl with libidinous menace and a body that men half his age would kill for (not to mention women), Idol demonstrates on his current tour that he's more than a reasonable approximation of his former chart-topping self. ' Hollywood Reporter

'The outfits kept changing, the hits kept coming and in the end, no one would let Billy off the stage resulting in 20 minutes of extra playing time. He looked great, he sounded fab and he made this little girl very, very happy.' RoomThirteen.com 13th June 05

This might actually be worth going to. His new album is supposed to be rather good indeed.
