I just took delivery of a Strong 6365 (thanks Tony) to replace my now defunct Comag SL55. Previously the Comag was set up using Diseq 1.2 to control the motor. Is Usals easier to setup?

    any thoughts?

My pleasure, I think if you have already set up the comag then you might find it easier just to follow the same procedure with the strong, I've yet to find usals quicker than lining up manually but thats just my prefernce, perhaps other guys have a different view?

While I have you here tony, which CAM would you recommend for the Strong? Once I get a cam, I believe that I then have to get a card to go into it.

I also belive that blanks cards can be programmed and that this is not illegal.

Are we allowed to talk about things like this here or do I need to find another board to pursue this converation?

    Thanks,
    MJ

Talking about cams is fine AFAIK as long as we are talking about using official cards and not pirate viewing. My own favourite is the matrix type as it seems to work well across multiple encryption standards but there are many others which I know other guys prefer for various reasons.

Disq 1.2 isn't the same thing as Goto X which is an extension, Is USALS another name for GOTO X extension of 1.2?

My Dish is slightly off when following the arc. I set it up with USALs or GOTOx. Not sure if they are the same either Watty? Anyways, its fine on 30W, and get slightly worse the further east I go. At turksat the dish elevation needs to be raised a small bit. my question is, does the dish have to be EXACTLY in the center of the motor pole? If its slightly off will it throw the dish off the satellite arc? The reason I ask is because my dish is not easy to center on the motor pole.

Move the entire dish and motor to the east slightly and see does that help. If it does not work and your motor elevation is set at 36 degrees (assuming pole is true) then the declination (dish elevation relative to the motor) is most likely not set correctly. With the motor at its highest point IE centred the dish should be point around atlantic bird at 8w.

    Good luck

Mines knackered too, not physically you understand, just off kilter. As long as it is in the east I seem to be able to get anything, try the west and nothing.......

Someday, someday I will get up off my *** and fix it.
