Here's what I want to do:

Remove the Xbox HDD and swop it with a 200GB one
Put Xbox media center on it.
Put a bunch of MP3s on it.
    Play Divxs etc.

I want to do all this without soldering....so I'll need a solderfree adaptor.

Assuming I buy an exbox second hand, can anyone recommend a good, easily installed mod chip that will do all of the above. Xbox live doesn't interest me at all.

    Cheers.

The Xecuter X3 is very good, I wouldnt trust the solderfree adapter though. Gives a lot of trouble. Also, you'll need to have your xbox connected to the internet to fps xbox media center to it, afaik installing it from cd/dvd is long complicated process, or use a crossover cable.

    Learn to solder.

    It's really not that difficult.

first mod i did was for exactly what you want to do.

i got the solderless xenium s.p.ice off www.divineo.co.uk for around €60 incl postage which was perfect and ive never had any trouble with the chip. its been knocked around and transported all over the place. my little cousin has it now and he hasn't managed to dislodge it yet!

it took about 30mins tops to install and add BIOS, etc. when i started off i was a complete veg. :D

all the help you need is on www.teamxodus.com and www.xbox-scene.org.

the xenium OS is perfect for swapping hard drives and adding dashboards. really user friendly.

the box has a 200gig drive, XBMC and loads of divx and mp3s.

couldn't recommend it more for what youre looking for...

down the road learn to solder, its more entertaining!

    good luck
