An alternative to the TS9/OD1 for gain boost

Just remembered a mate of mine had one of these, up to 25dB of flat volume boost, so more gain without any extra fuzziness that an overdrive pedal would surely contribute.

Tony Fitz had one. It clicks when you switch gain - and leading up to him no longer using it, it irratically turned on and off. I assume it was borked, but the noisy switch is apparently a common problem. You could replace the stock switch (it's not board-mounted at least), but that would invalidate the warranty.

Afaik, the gain boost is not flat, it deliberately boosts top more so than bottom. This ought to be a good thing though. Since Tony has left his lying around probably too long to return at this stage, I might open it up again and see if I can fix it. It was okay while it worked.

Hmmm, my mate's one was excellent. Noiseless switching and totally reliable. Tony must've got a dud?

Like I said, apparently the switch is a common problem.

Seems like it would be a nice solo boost alright. Maybe investing in some high quality switches would help the problem. In other news my wah just broke HOORAY :\/

Maybe your wah needs a quality switch too :p

Congrats on the Engl btw, looks very purty indeed.

Probably, but unfortunately that'd invalidate the warranty, so if something else goes wrong you're in trouble. It's a PCB like most stuff these days, so it's not really that reparable.

A clean boost pedal should be easy enough to make mind you... I might look into it. :)

Yeah boost pedals are very handy. Just get some patch board and you're away. The schematics are handy enough to understand.

I think it is the switch on my wah, it works in "off" mode so it's either the switch or something wrong with the battery clip.
