    hi all,

I'm looking for some feedback from all you computer hackers out there,
the other day in work the IT team came in and set all the staff's computers up with NO administrator privileges,
    including mine.
when I started to see what access i now have to the pc I use, I discovered I couldn't even change the clock at the bottom right.
it's so frustrating getting access denied all the time.
I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to login to windows xp pro, as an administrator,

I tried booting in safe mode and typing administrator with no password but it didn't let me it :(

does anyone know a way around this, or if theirs a microsoft xp default password.?

    can someone help, hope so..

Maybe theres a reason they don't want you to have admin privliges, what exactly do you want them for? If its just simple things like the clock then ask the IT team to unlock that ability to you. Every way around your problem is long and tideous and needs a bit of know how. Try googling for some answers. Dont **** around with the registry btw! :D

They did the same to us in the prev company i worked for - couldn't access the c drive it was hidden,
    Couldn't download, could use messenger,

Noting a few tweaks in the registry can't solve ;)

    Give us more info..

del.hse, it's in poor taste to ask for instructions to crack or bypass your employer's security.

If you're tired of your current employment, then being a security risk is one sure way to find yourself dumped on the pavement.

You can Delete/replace or use jack the ripper on the SAM file. (A simple google will provide the answers for this).

The PC belongs to your employer, they have every right to not give you admin rights, and every right to fire you if the IT guys catch you bypassing security measures, and if you do it they will catch you. If you really want admin rights the best options are

A: Buy your own machine, then you can do whatever you want to it ;)
B: Come up with a valid reason why you need them to do your job.

I agree with stevemu here. The guys are doing this for a reason and not to pi$$ you off or to show that they have ultimate power. Your best approach is to talk to them and see if they will give you some rights back. As an example in work we have an application that is time dependant so we use NTP and lock the clocks so they are sync'd correctly. Mess with the reg and you could find yourself with plenty of free time to try these hacks out at home.

Yep, there is a good reason to give users the minimum access needed to do their job - security. This prevents them from "accidentally" ****ing up their machine by fooling around with it, thus generating a support call and consuming some IT guy's time in fixing it, and it also prevents any processes started under that user's credentials doing anything they shouldn't be doing. If your PC is on a Windows domain, rather than a workgroup, then the system clock (and lots of other settings, such as the windows firewall settings, etc) is generally set by the domain controller (central server).

Closing this one. It got reported twice, and I don't want to be responsible for someone fecking up their machine by editing the registry.

To the people who said to edit the registry: The OP obviously hasn't got the wherewithall to be editing registries without trashing computers. Think twice before telling them how to break their machine / get sacked.
