Right I'm not sure where to put this so feel free to bin/move it.

I was wondering if there was a handy trick to switching between playing a normal note and a pinch harmonic easily ? I'm finding it a little hard, any tips appreciated.

Can you play pinch harmonics or do you need hints on how to play them?

I can play them, it's just switching between them and a normal note, take Black Label Society for example the way the swtich pretty quickly, sorry If it sounds confusing.

    How do you play them?

What I usually do it use the edge of my thumb and just rotate my hand, depending on whether I want picking or pinch harmonics.

when u bend the string on a pinch u have to kinda do a trill as well (shake your finger as u bend) thats how i do it anyway...try moving the plec between your thumb and finger while playing normal stuff

I hold the pick in a way so that my thumb is angled with the side towards the strings and it barely takes a little turn to do pinch harmonics, like this:

Sorry for the image quality, but you should get the idea.

Yeah, pretty much. Looks a little odd though becuse my middle finger is sticking out a bit there.

yeah it does look funky alright...maybe its cos of your miggle finger as u say...do u have that small an amount of plec showing??? i'd have more than that and adjust for pinches like

Am I the only one that constantly varies their grip on the pick? Considering there's not much to grip on a Jazz III, I use it for a hell of a lot of stuff...

I don't know, I don't play funk. I find I play pretty damned fast, so I don't see any problem though.

On Jazz III's I tend to vary my grip aswell, especially when doing super trem picking.

a bit off topic but what do you mean shake your finger as you bend. do you just mean use vibrato while you bend or what. if so, is it when you reach the bend note then vibrato or do it while bending up. I never knew what was meant by trill just trying to figure it out
