Good fun but very bad turnout, 13 runners

    the prize money was
    650
    390
    260

i'm not sure who took what prize as i went out from the final tabe 7th when my AQ didn't hit agaisnt pocket 10s.

but one guy who did make the money was playing a bit crazy.
he played almost every hand, so he could hit anything, and he would raise 4 times the bb and when it was folded around to him he would turn up 32o.
in one hand he called a pre flop raise and the flop came 9JJ he then called a big bet and the turn came a 9 so he was looking a two pair on the board and he called a 2K bet for the river. the other player was worried that he kept on calling so he checked and this guy turned up 75o?

wtf was he calling with that for? he could not hit any card that would give him a hand.
but then again he did make it to the money so i guess he mixed it up enough so nobody could play against him.

oh and "stormin normin" showed up and played four hands before he got busted.

thats wild play alright. 260 isnt a great return for 3rd. its like you risk 100 to win 160. id say id have to win a ticket in the freeroll to play in this event.

well thats what happened only one or two players payed and the rest were tickets.

i think the bank holiday had a lot to do with it, as they had twise as many for the last event and that was the first one.

    Bigun,

I think there were only 11 runners. Very disappointing turnout.

I was soooo pissed last nite. The one guy wrecked my head. I am still not sure how he could call all the way with his J8. Should have moved all in on the flop, but as I was new at the table I didn`t know that they raised and called everything.

Friend told me afterwards that they raised the first hand already to 1000 (Blinds of 25/50), and in the end showed J9 or T8 etc. Mad gamliing on that table.

    But I guess... that`s poker.

there may have been 11 but there was 1300 in the prize pool?

that same guy got a full house later on with 83o and the flop came 839 and the turn was an 8 and someone ran into him with trip 8s.

    ouch.

Really bad turnout only 14 players.

Didnt see anything before the break and my only hand of note in the early rounds was this one.
Im on the button and its folded around to me, I have 33 and raise it to 400 (blinds at 50/100) sb folds bb calls. BB is an absolute calling station who is chip leader by a mile after knocking out three guys calling with the worst of it each time only to hit the board.
    Flop comes 2h4h2s
He checks and I bet 1000 into the 850 pot, he calls, now im pretty sure he has a flush draw and yes he is calling bets like that with draws.
    Turn comes Qd
He checks and i go all in for 1850, he ponders and ponders and now I hope he calls cos im sure he has the hearts. He folds and shows kh8h.

After the break Ive chipped up to about 11k and we have 8 left, I have drawn the worst seat at the table as I have the calling station who has a big chip lead now and is hitting every flop immediately to my left and to his left is the next chip leader, a young guy with a green tshirt who has from what ive seen been playing some good poker and can mix it up a bit. So no blind stealing for me and I figure my best bet is to either wait for some good hands and have the guy to my left call off his chips or else try and see some flops for cheap and hope I can hit a hand to bet against him.
I am card dead and this hand occurs three people limp and I check with A3.
    Flop comes A5s7s
    Check all round
    Turn comes 5
utg player bets for 1000 (blinds 100/200)
    I call in bb.
    River is a 3
I bet 1000, a block bet more than anything, I dont really want to have to call a bet.
utg player thinks for a while and calls and shows A8 which takes the pot.

I raise with A7 on the button a couple of hands later and bb the player i said was playing well put me all in and i fold.

Now im in the sb a round or two later and i have KsQs.
Folded around to me, I know that whatever I do here apart from going all in the bb will call to see the flop, so I raise to 1200 blinds 100/200 leaving me 2500 back. He calls as allways.
    Flop comes 10d10hJs
Now I have open ended str8 draw two overs and a backdoor flush draw so I push thinking if he has a jack or ten then I have outs to win the pot and will have healthy chips.
He calls and flips 10sJd for the flopped boat and hey presto I am walking in sixth spot.

Im not unhappy with my play in this hand though, I think I played it ok, but as allways am open to criticism.

All in all a bad tourney night for me, but it was well run and nice tables, chips etc I hope they start to get a bit more popular because with a 30 minute clock and 4000 starting stack it really is a nice set up.

Also there is a waitress there who has great legs and wears a nice short skirt..............
