But you just know that it wont.

It will be £299 in the UK I'd expect which will make it 430euros for us more than likely. :(

I'd still expect to see it priced at €399 here, despite the US price of $299.

ah the whole $ to € fiasco. probably right though. so that means the ps3 which is being talked about being $450-500 will be €550-600. well if they want it to last 10 years i think i'll buy the cheaper xbox360 first and then the ps3 in a couple of years when its fallen in price.

Who said the ps3 is gonna be 450$?

I heard it'll cost 480 to make; which kinda indicates a 400$ MAX launch imo.

Still, 299 or 450; kinda puts the ripoff prices of PC components into perspective eh?

:D it still might be €299 here as the DS and PSP are the same price :)

Eh, don't think so. The PSP will retail for about €250, whereas the DS sells for around the €150 mark.

The consoles will cost whatever the market can handle, the consumer, as Microsoft found out at the last of their console launches, will only pay so much, regarless of the sophistication of the device.
I reckon a sub $300 price in the states and sub €400 here. The public will not buy a system for any more, especially when the average punter entering a game shop at Christmas will probably pick up a brand new PS2 for between €100 and €120, a far more tempting package for financially beleagured parents.

The Games on the other hand are anyones guess, I would say €60 will be the standard price, until at least there is some competition from other next-gen formats.

They can stick it up their arse for €400. I'll pay €250 at the most.

I think his point was that they PSP was $250 and is going to be just over €250, while the DS was $150 and €150. So there is always the chance of an xbox at €299. Of course I won't be expecting it, but I would be delighted.

Anymore than €399 and I probably won't get one before christmas, in fact I don't know if I would below that price anyway... all depends!
