I think I camer accross it one day, you can do like #something* persons number or something and it tells you what network they're on,
is it possible or must be getting mixed up with something else?

Meteor have this, good way to check what network your mate is on before you ring them for 5c calls ... Have a look on www.meteor.ie , I remember seeing it there somewhere.

I was trying to remember this the other night. You texted the number in questions to a meteor number 55855 (or something like that) and it replied with what network the customer was on. I can't remember what number you text though.

You text the mobile number you want to know to 50004 and they will reply telling you if it's Meteor or not!

I'm sure this will only work on Meteor phones but someone give it a go and let us know!

Just tried from my Meteor phone. It only returns a Meteor yes/no answer. It doesn't specify O2/Voda/3 ....

Tried also from an O2 phone, it doesn't work.

try calling 08651111111, ie put a 5 after the prefix. goes straight to voicemail. itll say "you have reached to 02 voicemail of..." or whatever

That's provided they haven't setup their own personal voicemail already Commander Vimes ... interesting approach though :)

if you ring the person and just before you get through you get a couple of soft beeps, it means they're not on the network that their phone number says. like if they're phone number is 087XXXXXX and it beeps it means they arnt vodafone!

What difference does it make?? If they are not on your network the charges are usually the same bo matter which of the other networks they are on.
