i never heard tubridy sounding so awkward/nervous(at the start of thye interview). andy kept the answers as simplistic as possible. at least tubridy admitted he was lost. i believe you can listen back to week day morning radio1 programmes on rte's website for anyone interested enough. he was interviewed on tv3 this morning aswell so he must be doing the rounds. he came across very well.

For posterity and ease of access I've cleaned it up and put on my blog as an MP3 file. It is big but it is 15 min long.

    Here it is. Enjoy.

think he mentioned it on the RTE Radio interview too.....apparently hewas saddened by the injustice of the guy thinking he was on dinner break when he was actually being blinded away. The other players wouldnt stop playing out of solidarity so Andy got sad enough about it to cry.

I'm sure it was part cosmic imbalance/part sleep deprivation.

oh right. i wouldnt be worrying about that other guys plight too much myself. however if i was at a table and someone suggested we try to wait for a guy i would be all for it solely out of respect for the guy that asked.

Just listened to it myself (thanks BigDragon)...

Texas Hold 'em apparently has "about 5 rounds of betting".

I suspect that Andy is actually mad as a brush! Still a legend though!

Poker ace put €1.45m win at risk to protect missing player

THE Irish poker ace, who came fifth in the World Series of Poker, has revealed how he went on temporary strike during the epic finals after a dispute with the tournament's directors.

Back in Dublin, where he lives, after his €1.45 million win in the Las Vegas poker competition last month, Andrew Black explained that on the third last day of the finals he challenged judges, refused to continue play and cried on live television.

With only 40 players remaining out of 5,116 on the final stretch of the competition, one player at Andrew's table mistakenly thought that a 90-minute dinner break had been called and duly left the playing area. What followed was a series of attempts by Andrew to halt the tournament so that the player who had amassed chips worth hundreds of thousands of dollars could return.

"I suggested to the other players that we just stop playing.

"I was completely convinced that they would go with this suggestion but they all sat there sheepishly," said Andrew.

For 15 minutes, the Dublin-based poker professional refused to play until the player was found and returned to the table.

Two days later he came fifth in the World Series of Poker and amassed €1.45 million, €600,000 of which is now owed to investors. He attributed much of the success to having a personal psychologist on tour to maintain his focus and concentration.

In the weeks leading to the World Series Andrew stopped smoking and drinking and started exercising according to his meditation teacher Ron O Muirchu.

"It was quite a transformation - more and more, players need to be on top of their physical and mental health," said Mr O Muirchu.
