I'd be careful backing in that race, it's an amateur riders race. Quite often they can turn out to be very odd races, they usually go off at a hell of a pace and most horses have very little energy left close home.

That's not to say that Kylkenny won't win, once I see amateur races I ignore tham.

There's A lot of racing around today although most of it is poor quality.

    My bets for today are:

    3:30 Newcastle - Toni Alcala

A former course and distance winner who will be well suited by conditions Toni Alcala has an outstanding chance of victory today. He rarely runs a bad race and with quite a few of his opponents having concerns of the distance and the going he will go very close today.

    3:50 Pontefract - Millville

Although yet to win on turf Millville has went very close on several occasions and this could be the day. He will be finishing better than any as he stays longer. The only danger I can see is Brads House, who is quite closely matched. The deciding factor for me was the ever brilliant Phillip Robinson on board. Robinson is at his best in these type of races, he also has a level stakes profit of £34 on 4 year old or older horses this year.

    7:30 Epsom - Ridge Boy.

Epsom is certainly one course where proven course form counts for a lot. Ridge Boy fits the bill this evening a win and a 2nd in 2 runs over the course. The 2nd when beaten by Momtic at the Derby meeting. He'll most likely go from the front and will be very difficult to catch. The easier ground will be perfect for him and the form of the Hannon/Moore combination make Ridge Boy hard to oppose.
