So, we have Speilbergs version, and we have the absolutely dreadful Timothy Hines version.

Now, we have another. Starring C Thomas Howell and Jake Busey. The cast, although not big by any means, at least has recognised names in its ranks. Now, you could easily dismiss this movie as utter tosh, but I've been reading ALOT of reviews about it....and it's getting from average to good reviews. Timothy Hines version of WoTW got abysmal reviews. Its set in modern day American, and does feature many special effects shots of war, fighting and the alien invaders. Apparently decent effects at that. I for one am stumped that such an apparently decent film slipped out unknown. I only accidently came across it while looking to buy the Hines version ten minutes ago!

So in short, this version, whilst low budget, is meant to be well acted and very watchable. I ordered it from Caiman.com, can't wait to see it, review coming then!

Finally got that today in the post. Watched bit of it, flicking through.

Special Effects are crap, but film seems very watchable.

Only problem is that its from the US, its scratched to bits, and its meant to be new. So to get a new one, I gotta send this one back at expense, after waiting three weeks, and wait another three weeks?

Even if it arrived in perfect quality, would you be watching it in the next three weeks anyway? Send it back.

There's also an animated version coming out in a couple of years based on the excellent Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds. Buy/download that album if you come across it, it's the best rock opera ever. FACT.
