On what days are the job supplements published, and of the Sundays which is the best?

One thing I am finding during my job hunting is that the papers are pretty useless for IT type jobs. So far, I have got all my interviews through job websites.

yeah, website are the best really.
Unless its for the big jobs, or half/full page spreads of big multinationals going on a serious recruitment drive.

Good luck with your hunt :)

Personally I reckon papers are a more accurate reflection of the IT job market. The recruitment sites are full of duplicate, and repeat ads that are constantly reposted, Check the papers and the companies own websites. Use the recruitment sites by all means but don't use it as your sole means of job searching.

The best method of finding jobs is through personal contacts like family, friends etc.

I think the times on friday is the best place to find work via the papers.
Of the Sundays, the indo is prob the best but they aren't great.

The best way is the web though, you do have to trawl it a bit and go through
the duplicates but most companys in Ireland of any size now use Irishjobs.
If you find a position on here though my advice is to call the company and find out who to send your app to directly. Our positions on irishjobs are inundated with loads
of CVs from people who often have no business applying. It is possible to miss
a good candidate as so many come through.

We usually put an ad in the Times too, but are reviewing this as the last one brought
very few apps in and they are expensive too.
As Ricardo says though, if I get a CV from a friend of a friend etc, their app would
be given serious consideration compared to one that comes in from the web or whatever.
