I'm new here btw... but anyway.

Just got back from Sligo, a lot of very impressive bands (Steel Tormentor, Erin Maiden, and those young lads in the battle of the bands).
It was a decent turn-out, hopefully enough to make further events worth while...

    Opinions anyone?

It was a brilliant weekend. Just starting to recover. Some class bands - Steel Tormentor, Speedking, Erin Maiden, Scorched Earth and Metallitia blew the place away on Sunday night. There was a great crowd on all the nights but especially Sunday night. Awesome. Looking forward to Whiplash 06 already

i missed the whole thing, went to leechrum instead. all those cover bands have really cheesy names. what about scorched earth? are they the ones from killybegs? what stuff did they play?

i wasnt arsed going to it, i expected it'd be plagued with the kind of tweens that live in the trades club and hang on rockwood parade in their HIM hoddies. Was it any good?

    over 18s hehe

anyway i had an unbelievable time and am regretting being so close to the amp for metallitia...the ringing still hasnt stopped.
i thought a lot of bands were class esp. metallitia, dawn and speedking.
i can only vaguely remember the first day due to way too much drink but i learned to stay coherent after that thank God.
thought it was a really nice setup and that drumkit on the last night was unbelievable i mean wow :)
i enjoyed chattin to some of the bands, the crowd chanting slayer in the botb and when metallitia gave us a free album \o/
06 come on! and hopefully the pics and vids of the gig will be up soon!
only bad thing was by the time i stopped the socialising and drinkin all the tshirts were gone!

You couldn't have it more wrong. Tight jeans, Metal t-shirts and denim/leather waistcoats all the way! The only time there was young folk there was during the BOTB on Sunday afternoon. Old school Metallers the whole weekend!!

I'm currently splicing the Video footage I got (around 4 hours) and the few hundred photos taken. I'll burn them onto a DVD for you if you want, Tar.

Cheeky fecker! I made a comp CD for in between sets- Nile, Morbid Angel, Dio, Skyforger, Black Sabbath.. the whole shabang. The jukebox in the pub is absolute ****e though, but there's nothing we can do about that.

Or is there?! We have 12 months to figure it out :p

Scorched Erath were brilliant. Good heavy thrash - all their own stuff apart from one cover at the end - Orgasmatron - ****ing lethal stuff.

    Well impressed with these boys.

As for all those cover nabds - there were only two. Erin Maiden were excellent on Saturday night while Metallitia blew the place on Sunday night.

A class weekend - roll on Whiplash 06

A lot of bands really stood out... And some didn't! who were those guys with the hair-cuts (and make-up) on Sunday?

But dammit, those guys in Scorched Earth can play! A bunch of young lads sounding better than some of these guys who have been trying to thrash for years...
And Erin Maiden: Brilliant sound, excellent covers and the singer really knew how to work the crowd! Quality...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 113 ✭✭Pinhead

I'll throw up a few clips (maybe 5-10 minutes of each of the bands I caught). I won't know how big they are until I compress them. The full length videos can be ordered through me - I'll burn them onto a DVD for yez.
