finally made a few quid

After a few near misses, I finally got a few quid for playing in the festival, the 30 rebuy, 900 for third, Gavin ? won it, got about 2 grand and De Deraco, who played very well, unbelievably aggressively when i was there, got second and about 1300.
happy enough to weasel into third as i kept getting hit every time I made a play. Should have went out in fourth but Gavins pocket eights cracked a chaps pocket kings and out he went.
my brain hurts from too much poker so I'm gonna do the only thing I can, give it a good soaking in alcohol.
had a brutal run online this month, without this weekends wins I would definitely have been in the red for the month.
but now I'm back in the black baby and off work for a week, oh yeah.
now if you will excuse me, I have a business appointment with The Duffman! Oh Yeah!

btw, interesting how tourney past experiences come back to haunt you. on the second last table I find myself in the bb with ace king suited.
A young chap who plays only one way, going all in with top cards, does this and the chap beside him takes a long time to fold. A while ago I would have called in an instant, but costly mistakes made me wonder why this 2nd guy was deliberating and I decided he had an ace with a bad kicker. Maybe I was wrong to fold but I did and the young guy who raised it said he had a high pocket pair. So, I feel it was the laydown that kept me in the game but it sure wasn't pretty. Finally, online, I would have called, because the delay would not be readable, he could be picking at a particularly stubborn booger for all i know, instead of deliberating, another reason why online poker is second rate gambling.

until next time ladies, the good doctor signing off.

u did or didn't do a deal? what about the trophy at stake? i was sure u were gonna win it (once u knocked me out) but well done all the same, u too doc

Nice one Doc, well done. I barely saw a playable hand all through that rebuy. Eventually I moved in with QQ one from the CO, CO folds and the button somehow beats me into the pot with his chips and I already knew I was toast. SB called aswell and then Biteme calls on the BB for an enormous pot. Button had Aces, SB hat Tens and dave had AQ. Ugh! Aces held up and I went out failry early.

Hey i was in a good position stayed chip leader afer you left and then knocked out cecil in 5th with QQ v. his AK. i then had half the chips in play about 180,000. about an hour later blinds at 4-8000. i raised 20000 on sb with Qh-10h. gavin went all in for 60,000 on the bb i called he had AKo. no help for me were both evenly stacked then. he then went all in on the sb with 88 against a fella from cork who called on the bb with KK. gavin hit an 8 and we made a Deal.
    Chip stacks were:
    Gavin 200,000
    myself 100,00
    Doc Farrell 30,000

    1st was 2400 2nd was 1100 3rd was 700
gavin who is a very solid player offered doc 800 and me 1250 Doc said it was a good deal ;)

All the talk of plus and minus Equity confuses me but as you said there was a trophy at stake so i think i should have refused the deal.

If anyone can easily work out Equity was it a bad deal for me?

shane why did ya call his all in with Q10s? Even 3way thats not a great hand to call an all in with....

Fair play to u on winning again, thats 2,500euro in a week right? I was on my way to a bit of money last week but got fcukin robbed.

    Oh yeh did I tell u I won 4K a few weeks ago :D:D:D

Not sure. I wouldn't have taken it. Personally I dont mind deals where everyone gets an equal split. Ok the stacks weren't even but I would have continued on until I got even (then did a deal) or went bust. Still good performance by all three of ye. Well done.

interesting, i'm not sure if that was a good deal or not (for you), a 2-1 chip lead can easily be overturned in one hand. i myself would've wanted the trophy more than the money (Luke showed it off earlier, very pretty). From what i saw u were playing well enough to take it down.

i raised to 20,000 he the went all in i was hopin my cards were live maybe he had a small pair it was 40,000 more and maybe bust him out, or give him 20k

i guess it was a bad move but i can never resist the chance to bust some one out an.

an even cr**per excuse is it was 5:00 in the morning. you playin the fitz 50 tonight

    Good deal for gavin!!! :D

150 over 2nd place money? No way! I hope someone runs the numbers but I'd want 1500 minimum. What were the blinds?

i think it would've been fairer to play it out for the trophy after the deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 441 ✭✭De Deraco

8000-4000 yeah worst play ive made in a while thats it no more deals and i mean it this time

    WORST. DEAL. EVER.
Apart from that Scalps tournament that was split nine ways.

On a completely unrelated note, congratulations to all three of you, great results all round, despite Doc and De Deraco's obvious hatred of money.

Somehow made it down to Cork in 2 and a half hours (although I did get stopped for speeding at 180kph and talked my way out of a ticket!).

Thats 112 mph. That ****ing sickens me. You should have your licence taken away permantly.

Nice one. I hope if you ever manage to kill yourself while behind the wheel you don't maim or take anyone else with you.

I smell a little bit of bull****. Niall Quinn gets done for being a quater of a pint over the limit but Rory gets away with being clocked at 112 mph? Did this talk involve your hand and some lubricant?

    yeh fair enough...

to be honest I was on my break at work and forgot I was replying to the post. Thought I was PMing shane so forget about the post.

And dont ask me how I got away with it cos I dont know. think he only actually clocked me doing about 85mph, I was slowing down. I gave him a bit of a story about rushing down to my bro in hospital... thank fcuk i dont believe in karma
