Battery and weird noise

When charging up the laptop there is a screeching noise coming from the computer from somewhere underneath. While charging the light to indicate the charge is flickering on and off. This is the Gericom Laptop which Aldi had on sale in May.

When I power on the laptop the screen and everything is as normal. But then after a minute or so the laptop flickers from being bright to dark as if it's running on battery. Looking at the indicator on the bottom the icon is showing it's charging then running on battery and running on AC power. Any suggestions what I should do or check out or would it be a matter to ring Gericom and ask them what the story is.

sounds like the connection on the AC power adaptor may be dodgy, or the battery is faulty. Could also be the power cable which is defect. Definately one of the above I would think... Give them a call, should be free pick up and delivery if they have to fix it.

It's almost certainly one of the possibilities Wolverine has identified.

Or it could be the charging circuit itself which is probably soldered on to the motherboard.

Try reseating the battery if you haven't done so already. Surprising how often it's this simple thing. If that doesn't work, it's one of the other problems.

Sounds like the AC cable is'nt sitting right in the socket or that the socket inside the case which is attached to the motherboard by three soldered pins ..sounds like one of these maybe losse... This same problem happened to my laptop just a couple of weeks ago and then from there it got to the stage that you had to push the cables plug from one side to the other to get the power led to come on so that i could charge the battery ..and once i started doing that i broken the dam houseing inside attached to the motherboard and now my poor lappie is dead ...

so the moral of the story is at the frist sign of trouble ring or bring it back to your supplier ASAP ...
