Ok, i guess that this is the best forum to ask for advice...im investing 400/500 euros in an electric/acoustic guitar, has anyone got a good model or make of guitar that they would like to share with me?? altruism is a great thing! the basis of capitalism!
    thks

Sharing guitars never works, unless its a doubleneck or something... :p

You can't go wrong with a Takamine. I would check out Buy and Sell and eBay to find a good seconghand one. For 400 to 500 our probably looking at the G series which is the lower Tak range but still a fine Guitar.

with that amount of bank, secondhand is absolutely the way to go for an acoustic. If you really look around you could pick up a beauty the you could play forever, but its good to know a fair bit about guitar before you go searching, if you dont play bring someone with you because buying a secondhand acoustic can be risky.

First thing to check is that the neck isnt warped and that if theres any damage its just minor paint damage and nothing more sinister, acoustics are delicate.

but the bargains out there are worth the hassle, i myself found a semi-acoustic worth 600 euro now, paid 100 pounds for it.

so look, but be careful where.

oh i realise i didnt answer your question there.

There are a lot of great canadian brands out there (Great Wood!) that few people tend to know about, but i would say whatever sounds nice to play and research it a little first too.

You can go VERY wrong with a Tak, and not much more wrong than with a G series. Plasticy sounding at best.

Look at Simon and Patrick guitars. Think Musicmaker does them, so you could try one out there.
You might get one cheaper on the web when it comes to buying however.

    *EDIT* after a quick google:

Very good quality for the money, and streets ahead of the Tak on pretty much all counts.

Yeah, the cheaper taks are not nice. Never played a nice one. So I suppose, at least they're consistently ****e. I got a takamine EN10C a few years back second hand for 500 and it's lovely. Saw one in town for 1400 a few weeks back too, so I got a good deal. Always go second hand when you've a budget, but dont buy on the net. Make sure you play the guitar first.
