    Closer
Unknown Pleasures is possibly the second best greatest debut album of all time.

Closer, while great, is let down by two weak (by their standards) songs.
Heart and Soul / The Eternal

Closer is far better in my opinion. I can't even begin to think what's wrong with Heart and Soul or The Eternal. I think Unknown Pleasures is a great album but they still seemed to be finding their sound and on Closer they nailed it. It just sounds so perfect, Curtis was almost right to do what he did, how can you follow up an album like that?

I agree but Heart and Soul is a masterpiece. Some bassline. They're one of my fav bands. The Substance compilation is good too but I'd put Closer at the top.

New Order are just a pale reminder to us of what a great band Joy Division were.

'Closer' was in my opinion their finest hour.

    Ian Curtis R.I.P

It's Closer, if only because it's slightly less grey. Both quality, quality albums.

    Why would you include Warsaw?

    4 tracks - released on a 7" and a 12"

eligible for singles chart, not album chart.

You are right but then again can you include albums released after Curtis as some of those above have? Joy Division are a bit like the doors, the survivors have been dining out on their front man for years. :pac:

Without a shadow of doubt it has to be 'The Best Of Joy Division'

    Duh, Winning...

have to say i like them equally, i love unknown pleasures for its nearly dark blues vibe (shadowplay etc) & closer for its haunting cold emptiness...i do think that hannett is little bit overrated and some of the warsaw demo's sound better than when hannett got at them....you have to have crazy drum rolls on transmission :)

Unknown Pleasures is the pinnacle of its kind and more, however, 'Still' isnt bad either!

Unkown Pleasures... but, ffs it's bad enough that there's only two albums do I really have to choose between them?

That's one of the dumbest things I've read.
