One is on Wednesday in Pravda on Lower Liffey St. and the other is on Thursday in The Village. I think 8pm is the door time for both.

Anyone get to this last night?

Yeah, it was nearly all new material (only Opposite of Addiction was played as an encore). Good gig but the sound was a bit off at the beginning. The new pieces are kind of psychadelic. Going again tonight.

Great to hear that new material is being produced - wish I was in Dublin to get to one of the gigs, hay-ho...

Do you not find the music a little boring after a while. Last night was the first I heard them play and I felt the music was always going somewhere, but never actually got there...

Can't comment on last nights music as I wasn't there but I've seen them once or twice before and I feel they definitely grow on you - It's an abstract form of music and certainly not going to be everyone's cup of tea but I'd recommend another listen.

Fantastic band. The more you listen to them the more you like them, fantastic! :D

Not at all, the longer they played the more I got into it. I thought it was the best gig I've ever seen them do (I think that was the sixth time I saw them) so it really is a case of different strokes for different folks.

Sad to see John Brown go, what will the Cake do without a trumpet?

Backstage I overheard something about auditions for a new one.

But can he be replaced ;)

Sure haven't they replaced drummers once or twice? Clearly the most important aspect of any band! ;)

    ah darn... I missed this...

And I was in town on Thursday night with nothing to do as well.

I've seen them play a few times and I've always enjoyed them. I have 3 of their albums/EPs - Brains, Dublin Gone. Everybody Dead and Super Lady... has their been any others lately?

There's a couple of songs on compilations and vinyl but no other albums yet. Should be one out in a few months.

And Einstuerzende, fair point about the drummers.

to be honest, i'd be more into the second support act. whatever his name was. i loved all the live looping type stuff he was doing with his guitar. he was pretty sweet. pinky (the guy I was playing with) has played better than that. And his normal guitarist wasnt asround so i was filling in. only started practicing 30mins before the gig. thus my laughing for most of it.

In fairness I thought the guy you were with was absolutely awful. His song about America was woeful. But the second guy was excellent. Did you catch his name?

In fairness to him it was probably the worst I've ever seen him play. But yeah, it was fairly poor. I'm not a huge fan of his songs, but when he called me and asked if i was up for a gig it was just the ticket to get me out of the library. Didnt catch the other supports name, but he was telling me he's got an album out and someone else was saying that its really sweet.
