    Hi,

I want to set up a web page to allow some people abroad pay money into my paypal account.

How is this done – how do I set it up?

I have a Paypal account – can I do from within this?

Take for example: I want someone to click a button on my webpage that brings up a page that charges them 1 euro when they join Paypal/fill in credit card details etc.

    Thanks for any advice.

www.paypal.com has a full explanation on how to use it. Just register and go to the guides.

They don't necessarily need to do it through a webpage...

You can just give them your email address and they can send payment using the send money tab directly to your address. Otherwise if you wish to use a webpage you can setup some Donation buttons on your site for them to click on. Login to your account and look up the Merchant Tools tab.

they used to have a thing on the paypal site that would give you a wizard with some options to generate some html code to put on your website which would put a paypal button on the page, that when clicked would take people straight to a page where they could make payments/donations.

not sure if it's still there or not, but it's probably worth a look.

    quick google found this: http://www.groundbreak.com/tutorials/ua_paypal.html

not sure if that's exactly it though. check paypal themselves for a quick guide.

    Hi,

Thanks for all the replies - great help. Have set it up now within the merchant tools tab. They charge up to 3.9% per transaction into your account.

I have one other question. I am wondering the meaning of the terms "sending limit" and "Expanded Use Enrollment"?

Is the sending limit how much you can spend, say on shopping online or does it affect how much I can take in? I have a linit of 746 euro so say somone makes a donation of 500 euro does that mean the next person can only donate 246 max. I know that the EUE is a number that will be on my next credit card bill alongside a charge of 1.50 but will using this affect how much I can receive in payments from others? Thanks, the paypal web site and forum has probably too much info on this- it confuses me a little.

    Thanks again.

Basically, until they confirm your credit card details you can only send/recieve a certain amount.

My advice would be to authorize them to charge the EUR5 (roughly) to your credit card for the authorization. This then appears on your credit card statement as (this is an example!) "PAYPAL 7434D". You then goto the paypal site and enter this code in your account. Then then refund the money to your credit card.

It is to confirm your identity.

    Thanks Ciaran,

I will do that. Their help service isn't the best, they have a forum which is difficult for beginners like myself. Thanks a lot for your advice - very much appreciated. :)

Drop them an email (using the contact form on their site) , I've found them to be helpful in the past. I believe they also have a contact phone number you might try, I don't have any experience with that though.

    Hi,

    Thanks once again.

Also, I forgot to ask about withdrawing. When you want to withdraw money that someone gives you there is a tab but how do you get the money? Is there a way of giving your bank account details so that the money is paid in?

    Thanks.

Yes, Paypal have recently introduced the ability to withdraw to an Irish Bank account. The process takes about 10 days in my experience.
There is also a EUR1.00 charge for withdrawels up to EUR100. Anything over EUR100 is free.

    Hope that helps :)
