3G online shop are selling a shuffle package:

    512mb iPod shuffle
    Podgear Shufflestation speaker station

    For...€128.95!

Buying those two items separately would be €150 so this is a really good bargain.

For the price of a 1GB shuffle you could get a decent 1Gb mp3 player. They shuffles don' t even have a screen, let alone all the extras and compatibility other 1Gb ones have

jesus, I post about a genuine bargain and get my head bitten off.

Some people like shuffles, some don't.

Last time i'll post any bargains here. Unbelievable.

You'll find Shuffles have almost audiophile sound quality. Most of the other ones don't. The earphone out put is a lot better than most other players. Better than all the other iPods. That and their smaller than most other flash players is what makes them interesting. Not having a screen really isn't a problem when your only putting a few albums on there. Besides the idea is just to have a bunch of tracks on random on them. The nearest thing to them is the Sony 507 and thats another €50. You can get 5GB Rio Carbon for €200 or iPod mini. But then they are not suitable for jogging etc.

I just can't imaging the 512mb ones sell that well and by all reviews those base stations are dire.

My 1gb ipod shuffle is possible the best gadget i've owned, that includes a modded xbox, 12"powerbook,20"imac, 4gb ipod mini, 40gb iriver etc.

Its so simple its unreal, very small, very handy, good sound.

This deals good, I never max out the 1gb anyway

I reckon the 507 is twice the player, it is smaller, much better designed to my eye and comes with a screen and a radio.

Also you can fit anywhere from 20 - 40 albums on a 1GB player, pretty damn handy to be able to pick the one you want to listen to.

Can't believe apple are trying to sell the 'shuffle' idea as a 'feature'.
They'll put a screen on them in the next 6 months...

It looks great. Less features than a Cowon or iRiver Flash player. My problem is its very expensive, and any audiophile review I've read doesn't rate the sound quality all that high. Pity. If you're only using low bitrates and the stock earphones I guess it wouldn't matter. Theres also the issue that you get the best out of it with ATRAC and SonicStage, and personally I'm not interested in either.

Stop being such a drama queen, no one bit your head off. They're merely pointing out the flaws in your bargin, from their point of view.

Not being able to browse through 1GB of music is a bit of a joke. 1GB is about 20 albums. If you're happy having it on shuffle all the time, fine but if you want to choose a song, you may be best going for something else, with a screen of all things  The shuffle really just goes to show how much Apple have the market by the balls.

BazH, when you say you never max out the 1gb, do you mean you don't actually have more than 1gb of music, meaning the 40gb iRiver really wouldnt be your best choice for your personal use anyway??

How many tracks would depend on what bitrate you encoded them at wouldn't it....

Correctomondo sir. 20 albums is at about 128kbps, say 16 albums for VBR (as good as 320kbps which is the highest you can get) anything bigger than that is just getting too audiophiliphic and taking away from the idea of an mp3 player in the first place ;)

    I'll agree to disagree....

a thumb war will settle this. Ah nah, use it for whatever you want, I'm just saying for those who will have about 20 albums on it, a screen would be very handy and there are other devices which would suit such people more.
