I've just a deleted a hard drive by accident and i need to get the data back. It wasnt my main hard drive with windows and other programs installed it was a storage drive. I pretty much just selected everything on the drive and hit the delete button then emptied the recycling bin(its a long story why i did this). It sounds crazy but thats what happened. There was about 80gb of data that i need to recover at all costs. I tried system restore but i have it disabled so its no use to me, i'm starting to panic now so if anyone could help i would be forever grateful

Unless you have a second 80GB or larger drives to move the recovered files to then your screwed!!!

2 programs I can recommend which will get the job done are:
    File Scavenger
    Stellar Phoenix

But without somewhere to temporarily store the recovered files...your shít out of luck!!!

I'm sure professionals would be able to recover "some" of the data but it will cost you

Uh-oh looks like i'm screwed then. The hd i'm trying to recover is 120gb and i've only got another 30gb hd which is full already. There was actually only between 30 and 40gb of data on it if it makes any difference. I was thinking i could use my 60gb mp3 player for temporary file storage.

    I'm such an idiot

Well it happens. I often reformed wrong partitions over my time working as a IT techy.
Why don't you take the HDD from your new system and use that temporary

That might work. Do you think i could take the 120gb hardrive and put it in my new system to copy the files over to my 250gb seagate harddrive then just put it back into my old computer? There wouldnt be any compatability issues would there?

Ok when you delete something from windows, it "marks" it as deleted but the file is still there. Windows treats it like freespace. Only time it goes is when other data comes to overwrite that free space. Just don't use your computer as you may overwrite the data.
I'm just researching here for you mate

http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm - apparently the software is free

Edit: Have you still got an operating system running on the old machine?

If i put the 120g hd into the computer i'm using at the moment(specs in my sig) would i be able to recover it that way or does it have to be in the computer where the files were deleted? I dont think my 250g drive would fit into my old computer because its a dell and theres no free bays for it.

There was two drives in my old computer, the smaller 30g drive had windows and most of my other programs installed on it so it is still working fine

Do the PC inspector, ment to be very good. Got to go good luck with it

pc inspector looks good, give it a go.

as for moving your 250gb drive accross, as long as you get the jumpers right (slave, master etc.) you should be fine.
