Who could forget it! It was a Canadian miniseries made in 1979, tho I only remember seeing it in the late 80's?

I always remember feeling sorry for Tom Sawyer as his aunt in the show was a total wagon. Kept wondering why he didn't just pick up the garden rake and kill her with it.

They guy who played Huck later turned up in an ep of X-Files where he played a telepathic soldier who'd lost his arms and legs in battle.

it looks like that is the one :) went to a theatre version of it in Indiana last night and thought it was good, only by some local crowd though. Wonder if i can pick up that old series on vhs or better dvd, but probably not.
