I need to do a 5 min interview and it has to be recorded on a tape,i checked argus for tape recorder with inbuilt mic and alas 40 euro. Any ideas of where i'd find something cheaper or even do external mics work half way decent and if so recommendations?

Unless you are spending alot more than €40 a tape recorder with built in mic will be awful.

Minidisc with external mic is the way to go for good quality recording, a cheap tape is ok if you can put it right beside

If cheap is what you want then post a thread in wanted, bound to be some boardsie members with old tape recorders. I am staring at one right now but alas it isn't mine to sell.

    Thanks for the replies :)

The interview is would be in a quiet place and could be placed right beside but the kicker is 40 bucks for one use but i'll take the advice and post in wanted ;)

I've two MD players which I'd sell. One an old Sharp working perfectly, though a bit dented, I'd sell that for €20 or a Sony G750 which has a Radio. But sometimes it won't read a MD and you have to jiggle with it to get it to work. I was going sell this on for parts for €10. I'll through in a cheapo mic and a few disks. Work fine for recording meetings and lectures. PM me if you are interested.

I'd buy the sharp if it has MDLP or the sony otherwise. If ronano just wants one for a short while I'd buy it from him at the same price after he's finished with it.

Nah the Sharp MD SR75 with LCD remote is SP only. The Sony is SP/LP2/LP4.

Personally I prefer the Sharp, though its older.
