Microsoft Anti-spyware

I just turned on my second PC and it would not finish loading properly, the whole system was blocked up. It took about 5mns to get up task manager.
It turned out the anti-spyware program (gcasDtServ.exe) was hogging all the resources without any sign of letting up, as soon as I killed it the PC went back to normal.

Out of curiosity I tried re-starting the program only to have a dialog come up telling me that the version had expired on the 31st of July.

I checked on my main PC and the same dialog came up.

I advise anyone with this program to check it and either update it or delete it in case it locks up your PC also.

I reckon I will ditch the prog, there are lots of anti-spyware programs that do not have a set expiry date.

I suppose I should have expected this sort of crap from microsoft.

Posted a while back but MS are marking Claria (formally Gator) spyware as not a threat. This is due to them probably buying them out.

Producing an anti-virus programme for your operating system is like correcting your own spelling test.
