Best Sound Card for me?

I'm in the market for a sound card. I want one for games, DVDs and playing music.
It must be 7.1 and be able to convert music recorded in stereo into surround.
(although this is probably a software thing)

I'd be willing to spend about €100, maybe more.

    Recommendations?

Brilliant Soundcard, Undoubtedly the best for games, but it has an issue with 7.1's you need an extra cable or something

Ya, that seems like the most obvious one to go for but I have heard there are some issues with resampling or something,
whether my ear would even notice I don't know.
I doubt I'd have any compatiblity issues as I have Creative speakers.

I was just wondering are there any other soundcards out there that are not as easy to find and are highly regarded?
