BJ Penn defeats Renzo Gracie by Uni decision
Gary Goodridge wins the K1 tournament by beating Cabbage, Carter Williams and Yusuke Fujimoto.

Also, before the event started, Allan Goes was in the ring for the cameras and as he was climbing out of the ring he slipped and knocked himself out. RING by KO at 0:01 of the first round. He pleaded to allow him to fight but the promoters wouldn't allow it.

Has Renzo ever won a MMA fight?

I really fancied CW to win, I tihnk GG has been around too long.

Goodridge is getting better and better.. And yes, Renzo has won lots of fights. He beat Maurice Smith right after Maurice beat Mark Coleman back in the day. He also knocked out Oleg Taktarov. He beat Carlos Newton althoguh the judges didn't see it that way.. Had a great fight with Sakuraba and was ko'd by Dan Henderson.

Renzo's grappling is much more solid than his MMA but I'll tell you this, he's fought the most solid fights out of all the gracie's and has never been a man to step down from a fight. He's a true warrior.

I think he should stick to the JJ.

Yeah well.. Renzo can think for himself :)

He's only it for the money anyway.

Yeah well.. Whatever pays the bills. You say that like it's a bad thing.. If my second name was Gracie, I'd milk it too. Difference is, Renzo actually earns his money. It takes 2 months of solid training before a fight, and then he goes off and fight's the best the world has to offer. Nothing wrong with that.

    Well if you continously lose...

    That's his decision, not yours.

Surprisingly, I'm not trying to coerce RG into retiring from pride. I didn't even know he read this forum. Or even read english that well.

Renzo doesn't fight in Pride and hasn't done for a while.. And his English is perfect.

havent seen the bout yet but the reports that ive read are very critical of penns performance in a poor fight - maybe its time to get himself back down to lightweight(if he can) or welterweight where he was so good

He can't get back down to lightweight. he had problems making weight even when he was near to 155. He should go back to 170 and fight.

yeah - he says himself that he is walking around at 185 - but he doesnt look in the best shape either - he could def get down to welterweight - and i think its a given that he would be more successful here - though the question remains about his passion for mma - he has said it himself on several occasions that his singular goad was to win a ufc title and he really doesnt seem to have the same drive since then when you read his interviews etc and that killer instinct, so to speak - esp in his ability to finish doesnt seem to be there - then with so much happening with his assault case, lawsuit with his ex promoter, running rotr/rumbel world ent etc maybe he just has too much going on
