Building Website Need Help.

I Am 14,

and was thinking of building a website like a .com one, i am fimilar with geocities but i would like to create a website, which can hold lots of good quaility video, i might buy a .com if i am able to build it, any help??

Can Anyone tell me if you can get good FREE website names like

www.something.tk or .ariz.us or anything that is Free and not too long,

and can anyone tell me, in geocities, can you upload video to a geocities website???

Most names - like .com, .net .biz etc you can get for $8.99 which is €7.42. If your parents have credit cards, they can do it over the internet and the domain name would be yours for almost free.

Do a search with Google or another search engine, and you'll probably find a few that give free domain names.

www.dot.tk has terms and conditions that you have to meet (like getting so many hits or your domain name is taken back and put up for grabs again by someone else).

As for Geocities, I'm afraid I cant help you. I've never had to deal with them. Someone might be able to help in the morning.

Hosting videos will require a lot of bandwidth if others are going to be able to download. Free webspace usually has a limit.

what kinda of website u gonna play around with?

there are loads of free stuff / ready made which you could customise eg. WordPress for blogs, phpBB for forums, phpnukes for CMS, many more.

they won't stop you from being creative but it helps you to get start around.

Hosting video will eat bandwidth. It could cost alot of money.

I only want people to see the video not download, I will have a look at them other sites you gave me,

I Just Wanted to know if i could put video somewhere for free, like geocities, then use a cheap(free) name linked to it, Done it before, But without the video

go to FreeDomain, It will give you www.something.co.nr and is free the only ad it requires is a button approx 1.5x1cm

If you lukin for web host, clickherefree for a complete list of free web hosts.

P.S: sumting.tk is a waste of time with forced ads, FORGET IT!

What is PHPNUKE???? I had a look at the website but i am still not fully clear on what it can do for me. Is it similar to what oscommerce can do in relation to an e-commerce site? How customizable is it, will it save me doing alot of PHP coding or is it fairly restricted in what you can do with it?
