JK sent Chiu our way while he's in Waterford to train with us. He took our class tonight and I really enjoyed the class, albeit semi-participation as my tricep is done in. We covered some nice guard to arm drag to taking the back and several variations from it including your standard armbar.. he showed us small specifics that we often overlooked it made me think once again look harder at the level of jiu-jitsu (which is very low i'm afraid at the moment).

Chiu's technical ability is great.. He's all about sweeps and nails them everytime with precision. It's not everyday we get to train with a purple belt down here in the sunny south east.. We don't have the pleasure of having JK down all the time.

Anyways, great class. Musashi also came out for his first bjj class tonight with us as his impression on bjj after JK's seminar was all positive. The scene down here is starting to grow and that's only a good thing. The level of training is getting higher. We're heading off to england for 5 weeks, hopefully we can bring some tricks back with us from the man himself, Roger Gracie.

More training for me! I've learned I have alot to learn and my game has totally adapted in the last 2 weeks, matured moreso than the last year.

also if i did bjj and got a purple belt i'd stay on it cos it's a cool colour.

We worked on some butterfly guard sweeps and some transitions to a standard armbar from the guard with a sweep. Some nice technique thoguh and he pointed out alot of small things to really help us.

so that's kinda lying on your back and using you legs to "sweep" the other guy onto his side thne rolling so you're on top?

You're never laying on your back as it won't give you the leverage to sweep.. You have to sit up.

He's from Gracie Barra in Birmingham Mick. He's over in Waterford on a trip. Real good jiu-jitsu..

Only now have I found this post - two years later! I'm coming down to Tramore on the 24th of July until about the first of August where I will the be staying in Cork. Are you guys still training???
